I am using windows XP Media center with SP3, wmp series 9, & IE 8. I have reinstalled and done a clean install following the instructions I printed from Roxio support. I have D/Led and installed the update ( 9.1?). I keep my programs up to date, but checked MS anyway. I did everything listed on the following forum entry - (http://forums.suppor...owtopic=18155).
Thank you folks for being there for dummies like me. This is not a critical issue but is just a pain. Harold.

If you want a new shortcut......This is one way..... Start-All programs-right click on your Roxio program and select explore, you if you see a shortcut icon, just drag it onto your desktop.

Sorry, Tired. Question, How can I make my shortcuts work? Thanks, H.
Sorry, Tired. The shortcut that does not work is the one that looks like a blue disc. All of the shortcuts that look like a blue disc are dead. I tried the one on the 'all programs' list again just to make sure. Still dead and delivering the 'could not complete the last command because: Unhnown error' messege. Again, Thanks, H.

What happens if you left click on the "blue disc" icon?. We may have to go to plan "B".

Do you mean that you can't even start the programs by going through "All program"?
If you can't start it that way then shortcuts is the least of your problems.
Can you start any of the EMC 9 programs via the Start? All programs method?

" A Few days ago the desktop shortcut went dead and I got tired of going to the 'all programs' menu to open the program I want to use."
I have not tried all of Roxio's programs that are listed in the 'all programs', but the two that I have tried work well. What I meant was that the 'Roxio Home' shortcut (the bule disc) in the 'all programs' list does not work. I am sorry if my confusion is rubbing off
All of the 'Roxio Home' shortcuts (the blue disc) are dead. Later,H.

Your program has crapped out. Do you run a registry cleaner? If so, that may have caused the problem. If you did a reinstall with your anti-virus on, then the items that were to go into the registry didn't!
Clean install after you prepare your computer for the installation.
Do not run a registry cleaner or at least set it to ignore the Roxio items.

Thank you for responding. Those are the instructions I followed when I did a clean install. The only reg cleaner I used was when I was doing the clean install of Roxio. The Anti-virus was off at that time. The only new thing I have installed lately is an external H/D. An HP 1 TB back up drive model # md1000h. Thanks again, H.

Try this:
Open My Computer> Local Disk(C:)>Program Files>Common Files>Roxio Shared>9.0>Roxio Central33>Main .....you should now see this page

Do you see the Roxio logo,if yes, adjust you screen size

and left click on it and drag it over onto your Desktop.

I did as you said and got the same results. Then I tried clicking on the shortcut there in the file where you showed me without dragging it out to the desktop and got the same results. A little window that says "could not complete the last command becaus: Unknow error" Thanks, Harold.

When you did the Clean Install, did you follow ALL the steps as outlined, did not skip any steps or add anything. I am out of ideas, it would appear something is screwed up in your install.

I printed the instructions and followed them to the letter. I wish I could say I missed or skipped something. If the program would just quit completly I could justify spending the money on a new one.

I guess you will have to live without a shortcut, its not that big a deal, you will get used to it.
I have many programs installed without shortcuts, in fact most, only the ones I use most often,

OK. I am almost ready to accecpt defeat. I went around and deleted all of the shortcuts and noticed a new shortcut for 'disc copier' on the start menu that worked and so I moved it to the bottom of the screen. That is the one I use the most. Only a marshmellow short of a happy camper. Thank you for your help and steering me. Harold.

I am changing my mind as I have lost the Jukebox disc burn feature. I remembered something that might make a difference. The clean install I did was set up for Roxio 2009, not 9.1. Please tell me how to do a clean install for Roxio 9 ( EMC suite 9). Thanks again guys, Harold.

Its very confusing....there is no such program Roxio 9, there is Easy Media Creator 9 (circa 2006....which is were you posted), and there is Creator 2009 (circa late 2008)....in between the two was Easy Media Creator 10 .....we (your fellow user's on here) have no control over why Roxio came up with this confusing numbering system.
Good luck
