Can the VHS to DVD be used to also transfer from DVR or TiVo to DVD? At a glance it seems like it would work because you would use the same three wires excpet instead of coming from the VCR output, they would come from the DVR/TiVo output.

As long as it's an Analog output it should work the same as a VCR.
Be aware though that you may run into encryption problems.Lots of DVR's employ some kind of encryption to stop this kind of thing.
Give it a try to see if it works.
