Why do you need to uninstall Nero. The EMC 10 install has nothing to do with Nero

Well maybe i spent 50,00 for nothing
first of all i do not have the full version of nero, that allows that to be done,
I assumed EMC 1O DID THAT being i have an unopened FULL VERSION,
MAYBE I BETTER GET RID OF IT ALSO
The reason i asked the question if you care to read it again, is there is a cleaning tool to remove remnants of NERO maybe you are not familiar with that either??????

Ump,
Nero is a competitor of Roxio
Two other things:
1. Walt correctly suggested the two (Nero & Roxio) can co-exist on the same pc.
2. Did you buy Creator 2010 for $50.00? Hopefully not EMC10, a 2 year old program ....

EMC10 allows you to add music to a DVD -- for example, in slideshows? What program in EMC10 did you use that would not allow you to add music?
Caveat: itunes for a long while added "DRM" / protection to music it sold; you cannot add copy-protected music to EMC10 projects.

Why would you even think that someone on the Roxio board would know how to remove Nero
EMC 10 adds music without problems as long as it doesn't have DRM. This is just like with Nero.
I am sure nobody on this board ever stated that Roxio were not compatible. The only programs that used to clash wer Nero's InCD and Roxios Drag to Disc which has been dropped by Roxio anyway. But then you can never have 2 packet writing programs on the same computer anyway, no matter what manufacturer.

On my EMC 10 it was on a label stuck on the back of the DVD envelope. The actual serial # is alpha-numeric, but I've replaced mine in this clip with X characters.

I don't know what you mean by saying your "normal network icon is now a MEDIA MANAGING SERVICE". The Roxio suites usually have a 'Media Manager' which will sit there 'watching' drives and folders and consuming large amounts of time and resources to catalog all your video, audio, and pictures. I turn all that stuff off, and when I want to use video or audio files I add them manually. Call me 'retro', but I know where I keep my files and don't want to hang around while some Roxio program 'watches' them.
As for Updates, the check for these under the Help menu involves use of an update subscription service which Roxio sometimes subscribes a suite to and sometimes doesn't.
If you have version 10.0 there are no updates as such, but you can download the complete version 10.1 [747 MB] from Support > Software Updates at the top of this forum page. This 10.1 installer will [if it works properly] Uninstall your 10.0 and install 10.1.
10.1 does not offer any new features, but it has a new Label Creator which will NOT use anything saved from an earlier version, even from 10.0
You can also download the "content" file [764 MB] from that web page, if you don't already have it.

The network icon is back today after bootup.
A couple questions if you don't mind.
1, Where can i disable that media manager i don't need it?
2. In reading the manual, i don't see any discussion on "finalizing a dvd after burn? "a quick read"
3. I see in tools i think there is finalize feature. When i ran ec 5 years ago you had to select finalize, then i got a new pc with nero and it just finalizes auto.
4. I use firefox a lot and i had a nightmare here logging in, i have some other no scripting tools added, so do i need use IE7? I'd rather use fire fox, i've changed the password about 5 times in 24 hours plus being locked out?
thanks

I'll have to go and install EMC 10 to get you the info re the media manager, and to check the finalizing aspect.
I'm pretty sure that EMC 10 auto-finalizes except for a multi-session data disc, when you need the disc left open.
I'm using FF 3.5.5 here, and have had no problems logging in to this site with it, except their log-in server is a bit patchy in performance. You do need to allow cookies from forums.support.roxio.com, and if you destroy those cookies you'll need to log in again. I've usually found that I.E. is the difficult browser to log in with, and soon the site will probably be incompatible with I.E.6
I'll be back after I've installed EMC 10 and had a paddle in it.
Regards,
Brendon

What kind of DVD are you burning? If a video DVD, the DVDs are finalized automatically. If a data DVD then you set the option to "Make Disc read only" to finalize it. Some more details on what you are doing might help.
I use Firefox all the time for these forums and have never had a problem logging in or changed my password in 6 years.
It seems there are a lot of problems with your system and not any software

I see Walt has already answered you on the finalization question - thanks Walt.
For the Media Manager thing, run Media Manager, then go to Tools > Stop Watching Folders, and it's as easy as that.

Does the login ask for your id or your email?
If the id, it won't work, either IE or FF. Bad link by the Forum host.

I see now Roxio has a page they don't need , if it's disabled for "log in" why not just get rid of it?
Now i know Lynn, thanks, ". the top worked had i only known !
Nothing wrong with my system just the software i deal with and the bad web PAGES that should be deleted.
I disabled MEDIA MANAGER IN Msconfig
I know where my videos and photos are, don't need a SPY looking at them.
IIt's not what i'm doing it's the description of tools available, i did not see anywhere where it was finalized automatically, whether data dvd , slide show, ? As long as it's automatic, so i know whether to "finalize" or not

Anything video is always finalized (in every video program) and it has always been that way.
For data discs you can decide whether to finalize or not. Which program are you using to create data discs?
I have no idea what you are referring to by this "I see now Roxio has a page they don't need , if it's disabled for "log in" why not just get rid of it?? What page are you talking about?
