I made 7GB of MPEG 1080i for AVCHD with Videowave. Nice and easy to create.
Now I have to create 2 DVD for it.
Can I do that with MyDVD ? I never did that before.
please advice me.

File size is an absolutely useless measure and tells us nothing…

What is the LENGTH of play and what quality are you after?

You have been here long enough to know that…

I want to use original quality that is 1080i and MPEG2 format, 50 minutes of play time.
A DVD can hold 4.7 GB max at AVCHD but mine is 7GB.
I have to create 2 DVD from MyDVD I guess.
Can MyDVD allow to create multiple DVDs without splitting out ?
thanks.

HD on Standard DVD uses the AVC codec which compresses the video much higher than MPEG 2 on standard video DVDs. When I create a AVCHD on standard DVD project with menu, here are the estimated times given by MyDVD:

HQ 1920x1080p 40m24s
SP 1920X1080i 50m16s
LP 1440x1080i 1 hr
EP 1280X720p 1h24m31s

Be aware if you use this option, that the disc is burned in Bluray disc format and can not play on a regular DVD. These discs will play on a Bluray player, PS3 or a computer with Bluray burner/player and software that supports Bluray.

There is no way to create a Hidef DVD using MPEG 2 in MyDVD and burn that to a regular DVD (unless you burn as data with another app). MPEG HD can only be burned to Bluray using MyDVD burn option.

So you are not burning a DVD (aka DVD Movie)…

You are burning an AVCHD project onto a DVD ~ big difference!

I think Gary’s post will indicate enough options to keep you happy, but should you want to split, I always do it in VideoWave and create 2 VW Projects – Disc 1 & Disc 2.

I was going by that statement which he can't do. Even with a dual layer DVD, I don't know of a way to burn MPEG 2 HD files unless it's data.

I take it to mean, The Source File is mpeg2, which is fine…

Guess we'll have to wait until he responds back to see what he really meant. smile.gif

I'm using Chuck'y solution to burn MEPG2 to AVCHD.
Only way is creating 2 smaller MPEG2(less than 4 GB each) file from VW, then burn 2 AVCHD DVD.

That was a big help laugh.gif

No it is not the only way and probably not even needed…

Why go through all that? MyDVD can burn 50min of AVCHD on a 4.7 disc in SP mode. I don't think that quality would suffer much. Try it and see.

Not again !
DVD burning stopped at 84% "Write Format" in HQ mode(mpeg to AVCHD). I did twice 4 hours each, but same hang.
I have 500GB space 4GB memory but CPU usage 0%, no I/O around 4 hours later.
I spent 8 hours but got nothing. Oh, man.
Do I need another work around ?

WIndows 7. 64bits, NUVIDIA Force 8500, 4GB memory. blink.gif

Reposting the same question in another thread won't get you an answer if we don't have one. smile.gif
