I'm running Windows 7 64 bit upgrade on an HP desktop. I installed the program on my HP laptop that has the same configuration & it went in just fine, so I don't know what the problem is with my desktop. Any suggestions?

What options did you choose when you did the upgrade?

Upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Home Premium. Did an in-place upgrade on both machines. Had no problems with either. Both machines are under 6 months old & the desktop is the newest, having bought it in May.
I had Roxio Creator 9 on both machines, which I uninstalled & tried to install Creator 2010 on desktop first. It hung up first time so I tried to reinstall, I then got the error message. I took the disc to the laptop & installed it perfectly with no glitches. Didn't even have to turn off the AV.

On the HP Desktop, did you have OEM ROXIO CREATOR BASIC V9?
Cheers

Need more info
1. Os upgraded from? What Service Packs installed? Was it 64-bit or 32-bit. What version?
2. Upgraded through windows or from boot up
3. Clean installation. If so did you format the drive or overinstall
4. Version of Windows 7 upgraded to
5. Any special hard drive configuration or software installed on machine

Upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Home Premium both 64 bit. Did an in-place upgrade (not reformat). Nothing else special done to hard drive. Uninstalled Norton Security, disabled all running processes through msconfig & still got message. Contacted support & am waiting for reply.
I installed on my laptop running same programs without uninstalling security or disabling anything & it went right in, no problems.

I am having the same problem. I upgraded a Vista 64 bit Home Premium computer to Win 7 Home Premium. The machine had Roxio Creator 2009 Pro installed on it with the Vista operating system and it worked fine. (Unfortunately, during the upgrade process to Win 7, neither Roxio or Microsoft informed me that Roxio Creator 2009 is NOT compatible with Win 7.) At any rate, I decided to upgrade to Roxio Creator Pro 2010. Here are the details of my ongoing 4 week saga to try to install it:
1. I uninstalled Roxio Creator 2009 and tried to install Roxio Creator Pro 2010 -- I received the "setup has determined that..." error message.
2. I followed the clean unstall instructions to the letter, unstalled Norton 360, and tried it again -- same mesage.
3. I downloaded the file from Roxio tech support that is referenced in this forum -- the one that purports to fix this problem. I repeated the steps in #2, and tried it again, receiving a message that the install was successful. However, Roxio Central never installed and when I click on ANY of the individual applications, I receive a message saying "The certificate file is missing or corrupt. Please reinstall it."
4. I repeated steps #2 and #3 again, and got the same message.
5. I repeated steps #2 and #3 again, this time downloading and installing SP1, and got the same message
So I have a couple of questions:
1. What do I do now?
2. Is it normal Roxio practice to advise customers to EDIT THE REGISTRY to actally uninstall the program? Seems odd to me that you would actually advise this. Why don't you put together an EXE file that scrubs the system and performs a clean uninstall? That's easy to do...
3. Your phone support has been worse than useless, though I updated by trouble ticket to them anyway. Is there any hope with telephone support?
3. I'm ready to return this piece of S**T software to the retailer but it's been opened, it's beyond their return period, and they won't take it back. If you can't fix this, how do I get my money back???

Create a new user account with administration authority and turn off UAC.
Log off and then onto the new user account.
Try the Creator 2010 installation.
If successful, then apply sp1 for Creator 2010.

Me too, me too? Read the entire thread, again. Then re-read Post #6, and do what he said!

That's probably the software in there which detects that you're trying to breach the licence of the guy you borrowed it from.
BENQ DW1640, in XP Pro and Windows 7
I blame it all on Global Warming / Global Cooling / Global Staying the Same [pick one]
