I have a bunch of MP3 files that I would like to burn in a very specific order.
I have tried 3 times now to burn them with always the same result: although
I define the order in the JukeBox Window, they are written to the disk in
alphabetical order (I've checked this via a DOS window). A file called
PLAYLIST.M3U is created which contains the file order I defined.
However, I've tried each disk on a SONY walkman and on my car CD player
and they play the files in stored order - ie they don't seem to use the
playlist file.

Can anyone tell me how to get the files to burn in the order I define?

This is my first experience with ROXIO and I am singularly unimpressed.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Chris

Sorry forgot to add:

I'm using ROXIO Creator DE that came free with my DELL laptop.

Thanks again,
Chris

That's the first problem.  It is a castrated OEM version of the software so it is hard to offer some help.  Dell gives you the modified teaser program so they can advertise that you computer does audio/video work.

What is the name of the audio application you are trying to use?  Music Disc Creator or ??????'  I don't have EMC 9 (especially your OEM Version) on my computer but you should be able to burn them in order by going here if you have the option:

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

In EMC 9, Music Disc Creator, the Project Settings button/tab is not at the bottom of that panel. You have to click on File, and the Project Settings tab/button is there.

The reason this happens is a Windows thing not Roxio.

MP3 files are just data files. So,Windows treats them so.When the disc is made Windows puts them into AlphaNumeric order.
1 solution is to use a device for playback that uses playlists. You've already found that your devices won't use them.Either they just don't or they use a playlist format that you didn't use on the disc.In the window that sknis showed make sure that all the playlist formats are checked. If that still doesn't work then your devices probably won't use playlists or use a format that's not in Roxio.

The other workaround is to put a numerial before the track name, like this,001filename,002filename,and so on.Then Windows will arrange them in the order you number them.

Also checking the box that sknis showed for Renaming tracks to ensure playback order helps.

Do you wanna hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because....."

I have the same problem. I too am using ROXIO Creator DE that came free with my DELL laptop. Regardless of the playlist, my Sony DVD recorder lists them and plays them in alphabetical order.

ROXIO allows you to reorder the files in the Jukebox window and creates the correct playlist file. But if you add a folder, the files in that folder are always played in alphabetical order. You cannot reorder the files in a folder. (At least, I have not found a way of doing it.)

To get round this, I created a Jukebox DVD, copied the autorun.inf file, Launch.exe and playlist.m3u back to my PC and hand-edited the playlist.m3u file with Notepad. Then, I created a data DVD with all the relevant files and labelled the DVD, "Jukebox Disc". It looks exactly like a Jukebox disc and probably is a Jukebox disc for all that I know, and Windows Media Player plays the MP3 files in the correct order. But not my Sony DVD recorder. It still plays them in alphabetical order.

I think you have to accept that (a) ROXIO won't allow you to reorder files within a folder, and (b ) some hardware devices don't accept playlists.

First of all, you are tresponding to a two month old post

Second - please understand - the app doesn't do the alphanumeric sorting - WINDOWS does
