Great news. I fixed my issues with chapters not working at all. (See post on chapters not working started by nacraa533 for info.)
Since this is a new computer, I got fed up and reverted back to factory image (erasing everything on my computer). After first boot up, I did a clean install first thing, even before activating Norton AV for the first time.
Tested chapters and it worked.
Installed Roxio SP1, chapters still work.
I have not tested drive emulation yet and I'm scared.
Is there ANY chance that trying to emulate a drive caused all of my chapter issues. I don't see how, but I'm no programmer.
I still haven't installed Norton AV or Itunes yet and I'm scared they may be causing an issue as well.
Please give me your thoughts.
Will Drive emulation cause chapters not to work?
Could Itunes or Norton AV cause chapters not to work if installed after successful Creator 2010 install?
Several questions.

DAT files

This is unrelated to the chapter post so I thought it would be best in a new thread.
Since I wiped my computer clean with a revert back to factory image, I lost some files. For some reason, my backup program did not pick up/save the .dmsm files created by VideoWave for back up. I still have the movie files in .avi format as well as the .dat files created by Roxio.
Is there any way to use the .dat files to keep from re-editing video in VideoWave? In other words, open a .dat file and save back to a .dmsm?

The dat files are totally useless without the corresponding dmsm files. Dat files contain the data to create the thumbnails on the VW timelines among other things. You can delete them at any time and they will be recreated the next time you open a dmsm project.

Drive emulation will not have any effect on chapters.
Most likely your original install was bad if you had Norton running when doing the install. Norton should have no effect at all on the operation of chapters.

Bad news, but thank you and everyone else who helped me with all of my Roxio issues. The chapter issues, the drive emulation issues and burning issues. I am very relieved to finally have Creator 2010 working properly (I hope). It took drastic measures to finally get a true clean install. Although, I know in at least one of them, because of Norton AV problems, I completely uninstalled Norton using Norton's removal tool. Odd thing....Removing norton removed the registry entries for my flash card reader. I think I started with a bum setup from day one.
