I regularly record audio files using a Zen stone. The files record inWAV format. In the past I simply open Roxio Creator 9, then use the path Audio/Audio for Car or CD player/Add Music/navigate to the WAV file/select and burn. But now I get an error message. If I try to add just ONE file, the error message is:

"This is not a valid or supported music file. The following file formats are supported: mp3, wma, wav, etc."

When I add multiple WAV files at once I get a different error message:

The following files could not be added to the project. And in a lower window there is a similar message about the file format not being supported.

What is curious is that if I save these files to my computer and click on them they play in Windows Media just fine. I simply cannot burn them to a CD. I did copy them to a flash drive and try to burn them on another machine with Roxio, but I get the same error message.

Ideas?

William

Here's another hint. I tried to burn old WAV files that I have burned to CD successfully in the past, but when I try to burn them now I get the same error message as in the initial post.

Not a problem. It is now moved to the EMC 9 forums.

OK something has change with your computer. Have you looked for any updates on Dell's site. Do you know when this problem occurred? Have you added any new programs? If it was recent, have you tried a Windows restore to an earlier date and then add the updates one at a time to see what caused the problem.

The files are wav but what is the bit rate? Has that changed? Can you copy the wav files to your hard drive and then try to burn them to the disc?

One other program won't work if the file format is WAV but will work if the files are wav. Guess computers don't know that WAV is the same as wav. tongue.gif

The fact that you got the same error on two different computers point to the files themselves. Do you remember any settings on the Stone that you might have changed? I'm assuming that there are no DRM issues.

It's a puzzler. Since I get the error on two different operating systems and computers (Vista and XP), one would conclude it's the files. However, when I try to burn OLD files stored to the harddrive that were successfully burned in the past, I have the same problem, which would indicate the software is now having trouble reading the files. I also reinstalled the software with no luck.
