I have 3 programs for recording LP's. Roxio Creator Premier is the only one I cannot hear the LP while I am recording it to the hard drive.
What do I need to do so that I can hear the LP while it is recording?? I have an external Sound Blaster audio card.
Thanks again,
Janice

What software package are you using? "Roxio Creator Premier" is not very specific although I think it may refer to a EMC 10 sub-version

Please, more about your computer (laptop)? and the external sound card. Is it a USB device? Roxio seems to have some problems with USB audio devices like microphones and turntables. I'm not sure anyone has posted about a external sound card. Is it a 16 , 28 or 32 bit device or other?

I have a Dell XPS 420, 3 GB Ram, Intel Core 2 quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz. The sound card is an external Sound Blaster 24 bit USB.
I appreciate your time and efforts.

Is that a desk top or laptop? If desk top, why are you using an external audio card? You should be able to just go from the source to the computer via line in on your internal card/chip.
What do you have built in?
That card is 24 bit but I can't find anything else on it from the Creative site. Now I can; it will operate in 16 bit mode. Are you able to capture music OK? Is the only problem listening while capturing?
As I said the program doesn't like USB devices.
You have an OEM version of the Roxio software so I can't help you there. What Operating syetem are you using?

I am able to play the USB Ion Turntable and capture the album, but I cannot hear what is playing at the time of capture.
Now be patient with me on what the internal sound card is. I pulled up the hardware and it has several listed; SigmTel High Definition Audio CODEC; HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN (with more letters and numbers); then there is Bluetooth Hands Free. I asume the first one mentioned is "it". My OS is Vista Home Premium.
Maybe I should skip the external sound card and use the internal. Someone advised me to use an external sound card (for reasons I can't remember now).

In your first post you said it works ok on your other 2 programs.....would you confirm this please(As your recording you can hear the song on your computer speakers).
Also, even though you cant hear what you are recoding with Roxio does it still record ok to your computer?.

Yes, I can hear what I am recording in Adobe Soundbooth and Audacity. Roxio records okay to the computer, just can't hear it at the time of recording!!
Well at any rate I have started using Adobe Sounbooth. I really wanted to get Roxio to put out the sounds..........only because I didn't want to strain my brain learning a new program, LOL. I have spent the afternoon with Adobe and found it wasn't that much of a learning curve and we are now happily recording LP's to CD's.
Are CD's going by the wayside in preference to MP3? Someone mentioned that I am wasting my time because technology has left me in the dust. Ah well!!
Thank you for spending your time and effort with me. I will say adios for now with many blessings to you.
