rolleyes.gif The problem I have is using Videowave with file type or extension of .MTS. I can bring my files from my built in flash reader into Media Selector and Preview them. When I try to move them to Storyline Production editor, except the very first file on the flash drive (0000.MTS), it hangs up my system. This is also true using two different manufactures of flash cards. ROXIO MYDVD and Video Copy and Convert programs handles these files.

Response from ROXIO:
Roxio Agent has responded to your ticket! (# 810564)
Thank you for contacting Roxio Customer Care Unfortunately Creator 2010 does not suppport .MTS files.

A Roxio Agent has responded to your ticket! (# 814454)
Thank you for contacting Roxio Customer Care
Please uninstall Nero from your system as it will conflict with our software.
I recommend visiting Nero's website for details’ on how to complete remove it from your system.
Your Issue: What file types are supported within Roxio Creator 2010
Resolution: To view a list of the supported file types for Roxio Creator 2010 please visit the link below
http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/000233CR
Input Formats: Video: AVI, DV, HDV, DV-AVI, MPEG-1/2/4, MPEG2-HD, DVD-Video, IFO/VOB, XviD, DVR-MS, TiVo, ASF, MOV, WMV, QuickTime, 3GP, MPEG2 Transport Stream, AVC (H.264), AVCHD

Then on November 3 I used the chat feature to again address the issue. During the chat session (centered on last windows update, video card drive update, etc.) ROXIO closed out the session with "ROXIO does not support file type MTS and sent me the above Input formats again". I clearly stated I had ROXIO PRO.

After some investigating I found that MPEG2 Transport Stream and AVCHD can use the file extension MTS.  AVCHD Camcorders from Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Canon all use file extension MTS.
Using CyberLinK (and Videowave) I found that Canon uses File Type AVCHD, Video Type AVC H.264, Audio Type Dolby Digital and when recording on a flash drive uses file extension MTS.

I am going to up date to Windows 7 and try ROXIO again . I will tell them AVCHD files and not mention MTS. I don't know why their Tech support could not make the connection between MTS and AVCHD Camcorders.

HP Tech support spent 1.5 hours with me getting Nero of my system and trying to get the ROXIO software to work.

Your Problem is not the same as the problem in the thread that you hijacked.  Please refrain from hijacking threads, in the future.

Are you using a built-in memory card reader?  Do you have any USB devices plugged in that draw power like hub or webcam?  Memory card readers are USB devices and could possibly be a hardware issue.  Have you tried the memory cards in other machines?  Have you tried leaving the card in the camcorder and connecting the camcorder via USB cable?

VC&C handles these files per your original posts..  Have you tried to convert them to another format and then use them in VideoWave?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

grandpabruce - From your tone and statement it seems that you assume I willfully highjack the issue.  It was not my intention. I am new forums, Digital Camcorders and using software to create movies.

I moved the files to my hard drive with the same results.  File 0000.mts is added OK all other files hangs up the program.

I can convert the files using Roxio to MP4 with some loss of quality. Videowave handles these OK. Took me a little time to figure out what VC&C meant. Still would like to use the original files.
I updated to Windows 7 and it does not change the problem. Also found that Windows Media Player handles these file perfectly.

That you for the suggestions.

Howard

Having the exact same problem.  Using a Canon Flash Memory Camcorder (HF20) that outputs the .mts files.  Download them to the computer using the provided software from Canon (Pixela) but wanted a program that I could use to directly edit and develop DVDs from.  Have spent the last month working with ROXIO through uninstalls, repairs, checking System Requirements, and randomly rechecked the file type listings.  Noticed that against all the information I read before purchasing, mts is not listed.  Interesting thing is that if I wait long enough, the files are eventually uploaded into the program, but everything runs painfully slow.  I have the same symptom that my first file uploads just fine and very quickly, but after that... hangs and downhill fast (unless you are willing to wait out the hang).

Any suggestions or ways that the MTS files can be edited directly rather then having to convert them first?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as that was one reason I thought 2010 Pro would be perfect for my needs.

Thanks in advance.  (Like Howard, I'm a newbie with the forums, so please let me know if I am breaking any 'rules' here... think we have working the same issue, though Roxio hasn't shot me down yet with the "Don't support type...").

Thanks - Newbie 2

Re: MTS files.  I have the same issue when I try to load files.  A 30 second mts file may take 3-5 minutes to load and then runs very slowly.  I have no idea why, I went throught installs, repairs etc.  The only solution I found was to use a free 3rd part video converter  (Like Any Video Converter) to convert the files before putting them into Video Wave.  Other people do not have the problem.

Look at my computer profile to see if there is anything there that is in common.  I'm not going to list all my other programs that may have some interference.

Thank goodness my camcorder does HD mpg2 files natively.

So update... Roxio just shot me down with the same message as Howard... "Not supported" (after I sent them an MTS file).
Steve - Did a check of our systems, and the ONLY thing in common is Windows 7, but I've already tried installing on Vista and had the exact same problem.  I swear I read before buying that mts were compatible...  sigh... so now I have to convert all the files inorder to use Roxio eh?  No other ideas?

Thanks!

wink.gif  Buy a different camera?

Have you tried to capture them as a different format via firewire and 'Capture Video" (Media Import)?

I have not... I checked but can't figure out how to have my camera record in different format, but Media Import would allow  you to capture and convert while downloading from the Camcorder?  That would definitely be a great option if possible!

Thanks

Of course its possible rolleyes.gif That is what the "media Import" is for - it captures the video from your camcorder and converts it to the format you select.
