I recently Installed Roxio Creator 2010 Pro and have not been able to burn a complete DVD data disk. It writes to about 90% completion and produces the following error. I can burn a full CD without incident. I have also tried at least 2 brands of media including Verbatim and Tayo Yudin.

The error produced is:

"There was a problem writing to the disc. You can try again by clicking the Retry button. You will need another blank disc ready.

Sense: 02 ASC: 04 ASCQ: 08 (Command 51)

Px.dll: 4.18.16.0
PxAFS.DLL: 4.18.16.0
pxdrv.dll: 1.02.47a
PxMas.dll: 4.18.16.0
PxSFS.DLL: 4.18.16.0
PxWave.dll: 4.18.16.0
pxwma.dll: 1, 0, 0, 3"

Other stats to consider:

Running Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Have 2 BD-R drives that produce same results.
(LG BH08LS20 with firmware 1.00 and LG GGW-H20L with firmware YL05)

Can burn DVD disks using Cyberlink Power2Go v6 without issues.

I have installed latest updates to Roxio creator 2010 and Windows 7.

Prior version Roxio Creator 2009 was working fine with these drives under Vista x64.

Anyone have any suggestions?

That error Sense: 02 ASC: 04 ASCQ: 08 means your burner is reporting LOGICAL UNIT NOT READY, LONG WRITE IN PROGRESS.

Notes for that error, on the chart I have say "The drive may not be operating properly due to unstable PC and devices. Please check your PC and all your device connections", and they suggest
[1] quit all running programs
[3] check your ASPI manager, "Check your ASPI layer configuration. Your recording program is likely to use the standard windows ASPI layer, which has been replaced by another ASPI layer of yet another recording program. Make sure you have the original windows ASPI layer in use and retry. If the problem persists, contact the drive maker."
[5] check the disc for dirt, defects and scratches. [obviously not applicable with your quality media]
[6] check the drive. "If you have tried Actions 1 through 5 above, there may be a problem with your drive. Contact the drive maker with details of the error code."

Since this is also happening with your other drives, that would rule out everything in their suggestions except software. I 'd suggest removing any other optical burning programs and then clean-installing Creator 2010 again, and checking your ASPI layer IF Windows 7 uses ASPI.

I did a little digging and found that Windows 7 and Windows Vista do not use an ASPI layer. This is according to a posting I found at Adaptec's support site. I will try to remove the Cyberlink software and the Roxio software then reinstall Roxio 2010. Hope that makes a difference.

Fine re the ASPI layer. It's quite hard to find good information on those ATAPI error codes, so often our resources [like these charts] are getting a little 'venerable' in age. smile.gif

The "clean install" instructions for C2010 in Vista and Win 7 HERE might be more effective than a simple uninstall/reinstall, if you can follow them.
