Scenario:
Easy VHS to DVD
Installed initially, and after starting program from either Desktop shortcut or Program list, the program would produce only the ROXIO logo, then end.
Tried to install service pack, but that would not install (said that VHS2DVD was not on my computer).
Uninstalled VHS2DVD, and re-installed.
Read many more posts on this support board.

For sake of experiment, we installed on my son's older laptop which has XP, and it seemed to install and open fine, but the ram and processor seem insufficient for the requirements of the program, so when we tried to capture a video, it just froze up.

So- Back to the Toshiba (original computer as described below)
Did clean install, as recommended, including: turned off all firewalls and virus programs, disabled startup programs, edited registry as recommended, deleted all recommended files, etc.
Then re-installed.- Now, when I try to open from the Programs list, I am told that RoxioCentralFx.exe has been moved or can't be found (Now, the Roxio logo no longer appears).
I performed the clean install completely again, but downloaded and ran Micro-soft's msicuuu2.exe first. After install completed, no change- Upon clicking to open VHS 2 DVD, I get same screen: RoxioCentralFx.exe missing or moved.
I searched for it, and tried the RUN function, but it does not seem to be loaded on my computer.

Question: Where should it be on my computer (RoxioCentralFx.exe)
Question 2: Where is it on the install disk?
Question3: If I find it can I copy it from the disc and manually install it in the right folder on my computer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Bill

You must have Vista with SP1. You didn't say that you have that???

Do any of the individual programs run if you go through the Start Menu?

I think Jim has this confused with Roxio Creator 2010 that requires Vista Sp1 as a install requirement.

Thanks, Jim,
Good Question. I assumed that since I had about a hundred Windows updates and fixes in my Programs list (under Control Panel, Programs & Features), that SP1 would have to be there- I guess that's not necessarily the case. But I checked then with Properties on Computer, and-
yes I do have SP1. -and
yes, other programs open fine from  'Programs' on Start Menu

Running the  Micro-soft's msicuuu2.exe first." before uninstalling from Add Remove programs, is the no-no..

I would start over, print out the clean uninstall reinstall instructions and follow them exactly, don't add anything and don't leave anything out and reboot the PC.

Copy the contents of the DVD installation disc to a folder you make on your desktop.

Next follow the top two paragraphs in the link below.

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=49170

Last, navigate to the folder on your desktop you copied the installation disc to and double left click on setup.exe, install the software and reboot.

Refer to this pinned post if the install has any problems, watch the install.

Now see if the software works, go to help about and post the version # so we can see if you have a SP's in that install?

Ok- I'm gonna do all that- I'll print it first, and follow exactly when I get back to this. Gotta leave for awhile, but-

I turned my virus protection back on to try a scan. Hope that's OK- I'll shut it back down before uninstalling or installing.
Also- would you advise a system restore to before the software was first installed?
And is there anything in particular I should be watching for during the install? I did see that the service pack is included on the install disc.

I really appreciate you guys's help w/ this! I would really like to get it working.

Bill

Well...
I did the following:

1.  Turned off all anti virus, spyware, etc programs
2.  Disabled startup apps through msconfig
3.  Uninstalled V2D through Control Panel
4.  Did not run Microsoft Cleanup Utility
5.  Set to view hidden files
6.  Deleted all remaining Roxio and Sonic files and folders from Harddrive
7.  Emptied Recycle Bin
8.  Deleted remaining Roxio and Sonic files and folders from system registry
9.  Restarted Computer
10. Cleaned out all caches, deleted all cookies, private data, and histories
11. Deleted Temp files
12. Ran Disc Cleanup
13. Emptied Recycle Bin
14. Defragged Hard Drive
15. Restarted Computer
16. Closed all other programs
17. Disconnected from Internet
18. Copied Install CD Files to a folder on my desktop
19. Put in USB device- for some reason, drivers did not automatically try to install & New Hardware Wizard did not start.
20. Ran setup.exe from the folder
21. Watched Install,  It seemed to install fine, including the SP2

Problem: There is no icon on desktop, and the program is not listed in the Program list from Start
Also- when I Uninstall the USB Driver from the Control Panel, it does not come off the list.
Wouldn't this at least install without the USB Drivers being right?

Since it won't open, I can't get to About, but I did see during an install that it is version 11.  If I try to run SP2, it tells me that V2D is not on my computer. I'm wondering- where does it look for V2D to determine that.

Any thoughts???

Bill

#4 you didn't do is part of the clean uninstall reinstall procedure you were supposed to print out and follow like the Holy Grai! I guess my question is why would you do all that and skip that part? If you ran it (Microsoft Cleanup Utility) it should of removed your USB Driver from the add remove program list.

What you were supposed to print out and follow.
http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/conte...7CR&PARAMS=

#19 makes me wonder if the USB Device drivers uninstalled? Or the USB port your plugging it into is not USB 2.0 or not getting a connection? Do any drivers show in Device Manager for the Device?

Bill there is no sense in advising if you alter the advise and go off on your own!
