You say "re-install" on your Dell laptop. Did it come preinstalled on the laptop originally ? And if so, what happened to it that required you to remove it so it would have to be re-installed ?? Anyway a few more details please.

When successful, then apply sp4.

I have done the clean install to the letter on several occassions and still had no joy with it.The first time i tried to re install creator was when i had formatted my hard drive so there was no roxio software there and it still didnt work. The only part of the clean install i couldnt do was removing the roxio part with the un install clean up utility as it didnt show in the list but the smartsound did.

Did you try loading Creator 2009 to the HD and then do the install? Do the clean install process and install from the HD and be sure that your antivirus is turned off.

Roxio now tell me i need to format my hard drive and this will solve my problem.I have only just done this and this is when i had my instillation problems.Surely there must be a solution without having to spend hours re loading everything onto my pc.One advisor says to this and another says there is nothing wrong with my system and not too format my hard drive.

Well, unfortunately, aside "it won't work" you are asking a lot; like, bringing your car to service and then just describing "my car won't work" and expect them to figure out the what and why!

We cannot look over your shoulder; so be specific, elaborate, go through each step of the installation setup and tell us, when/where/how the problem occurs!

The only advise I can give you here: Roxio works on my system! So, what is different between yours and mine? Tell us! wink.gif

Oh, one more thing: we were not involved nor conferenced in in your call with Roxio support. We are just humble users as you...
Enjoy,

What level of VISTA are you running? You need to be at least service pack 1 (sp1) but service pack 2 (sp2) is preferred.

I am running vista sp2 so that is ok.My problem started when i re loaded vista before that i had the software installed and working great. When i came to install it again after the vista reload the software install as normal but when i open the program up all the video editing is missing. The only thing in the video section is a video player.I have tried doing the clean install and installing it from my hard drive instead of the cd but non of this has worked.I dont know what else i can tell you unless you can point me in the direction to check things and report back.Hope you can help thanks Paul.

Go into the Control Panel -> Programs and remove netframe work 3.5. Roxio will reinstall it.

Then do a clean install and do not add or skip and steps.

Then apply sp4.

I have done this on several occassions and it still doesnt install all the features. When i have done this and let it install i goto the updates and download them but when i try to install them it says creator is not installed please install and try again.I have tried installing from the hard drive instead of the disk but that didnt work either. Is it possible that my dvd drive isnt reading correctly i have tried to install my mates creator 2009 using his disk but i get the same results.

We are going in circles; don't know why you do not realize we are just shooting in the dark!
It seems your installation succeeds but for what ever reason you don't see all applications in the main program; but perhaps you did not click on the task selection on the far left.

You could also go to the Windows Start Menu, look for All Programs — Roxio 2009 Creator... — Applications.

BTW, when customer support suggests a drive format then they suspect a virus or some malware program installed. And I know that some of them buggers can change the behaviour of the application and Windows quite negatively! And I have no idea whether, after your reformat and reinstall of Vista, you reapplied all the Windows Update patches; whether you installed all the latest relevant chipset, device, graphics drivers. I tend to believe that you did not, and that can very well be the cause of your "does not work" problems.

I strongly suggest to get a friend or relative or neighbor assist you; unfortunately we do not see what you are doing, we do not see any error messages, don't see what add'l software you have installed, we have NOTHING to work on! And you still won't share details! Again, we are all just guessing, and we advise on the usual suspects, but we only get a "still does not work!" from you in return. sad.gif

This is frustrating to you as it is to us!

So again: get some on-site assistance, and be it just to help provide a clear picture of what is actually going on with your system!

Thx.

Enjoy,

What antivirus program are you using? Your antivirus program might be cleaning out registry enties needed by Roxio and Sonic.

I am using Mcafee antivirus,on instillation it is totally de activated. As for the drivers not being up to date i have been through them all with a Dell tech guy who takes over your pc and goes through it all and in device manager i have no hang ups.As for windows updates i am totally upto date with them auto update is activated.I think i am better just trying a different software to edit my videos and see how that goes. Thanks for all the advice and help.
