I have creator 2009. I have a dvd slideshow made in mydvd and saved as dmsm. I want to add more transitions and rolling text. I am told I need to be in videowave. I go to videowave but now I cannot import my saved dvd slideshow (dmsm). What exactly do I need to do to find my dvd to edit it in videowave. I am interested in adding rolling text and adding word bubbles. (videowave is the place to do this right?) I also want to be able to email my video to a family member so i need the dmsm converted. I know I really need alot of help. Thanks!!

You can't open it, in VideoWave, because the file extension is NOT .dmsm.  It is .dmsd.

You can add more transitions in MyDVD.  Open MyDVD, open your production, then, in the Preview screen, click on the title of your production, then under Edit, on the left side of the screen, click on Edit Movie.

Make the changes that you want, and then, at the top of that screen, click on Back to MyDVD. Now, save your production again.

For your next production, use VideoWave to create it, then use MyDVD to author and burn the production.

Are you sure your project file has the dmsm extension? If you used myDVD and saved your project then it should have the extension dmsd.

If you do have a dmsm project file then then simply double click on it and it will open in the stand-alone version of Videowave.

BTW, a dmsm (or dmsd) project file does not contain any video at all but is simply a list of source files such as video, photos, audio, etc. as well as any special effects, transitions apllied and used in your project.

My dvd slideshow IS dmsd. Sorry for the confusion. I have beening trying to figure this out for hours. The ONLY Way I can find it is by going to media manager. I want my dvd slideshow to open in videowave so that I can add other transitions and captions. Is there a way?

You cannot open your slideshow in Videowave since you created it using myDVD. You can continue to work on the slideshow though by using a version of VW embedded in myDVD which is what you started with it seems.
Find your dmsd project file and double click on it and myDVD should open. Now select the slideshow from the menu page and then click on Edit Movie. Now you can add transitions, etc.

Most of us always recommend that you start with the "real" Videowave accessed from the C2009 homepage edit - advanced) since it was designed for assembling your video project. myDVD is mainly for authoring and burning to DVD.

ok...thanks so much your all of your help. I will use videowave from now on.
Now, I have another question. Is the 2010 version worth getting. (or easier?) I also see the online "premium" which is really what I am looking to do. I want to use the word bubbles, snowflakes, bouncing hearts...etc. Do I need to get either one of these or can I do all of this in 2009?
Thanks

Did the suggestions by Walt and me, on how to continue working on your project, in MyDVD work for you?

This was supposed to be an EASY program but I am getting frustrated.

We were trying to help you get through finishing up the production you were doing.  For your next production, start with VideoWave, directly, not through MyDVD.
