I've tried re-running install but all I get from pressing the 'Backup & Restore' button is few loops of the circular arrow and nothing else.
I'm running a Dell studio 1737, Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.40GHz) , 2 x 320Gb sata drives.
I am running out of ideas as to what else could stop it from running.

What is the full name and version number of the software? Did the software come pre-installed in your machine?

For anyone who may be interested:-
Using a 'Clean install of the 2010pro s/w' fixed the problem.
I assumed c2010 would overwrite c2009....... and c2010pro would overwrite c2010......... WRONG !!!
