Hi everyone,

I'm running Vista 64bit with a Radeon HD 4870 video card. My camera is a Canon HF-200 Vixia. I just got Creator 2010 special edition at Costco. I can't play or edit the .MTS files from the camera. When I start a clip with cinepalyer the screen stays black and doesn't start to play, no sound or anything. When I try to close the cineplayer it hangs and I have to close it with task manager. When I try to import from the camera with the Roxio media import component the program sees the files on the camera but the vieos have a lock symbol on them. Thanks for any help.

Supported file types input:
Video: AVI, DV, HDV, DV-AVI, MPEG-1/2/4, MPEG2-HD, DVD-Video, IFO/VOB, XviD, DVR-MS, TiVo, ASF, MOV, WMV, QuickTime, 3GP, MPEG2 Transport Stream, AVC (H.264), AVCHD.  It should work with that Transport Stream format.

Have you installed SP1?

Use a 3rd part application to convert or do a repair if that doesn't work.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

You really don't need Media Import.
Connect the HF200 to the computer with the USB
Turn it to Playback mode
you should hear Windows Recognize it
Open My Computer and there should be an icon there for the camcorder like another Drive.
Double click that and navigate to the .mts files
Copy to a folder on your hard drive

Thanks for the replies. I tried dragging one of the files straight from the camera to the computer then trying to play or edit it. But creater 2010 can't seem to handle the video files from my camera. Is creator 2010 compatible with .mts or not? Thanks

I have several Canon HG100 files and have no issues.  If you would like to post a file (under 100MB)  on YouSendIt or UpforDown or some other file sharing site, I would be happy to try it out on my machine.

Hi, I'm a newbie with HD cameras, I've been using Roxio products for a few years, now using RC2009 SP4 with a Canon HF10.
When using the import tool I see the locked Icon as well, I tried this KB link http://img.roxio.com/enu/pdf/C2009_tutoria...CHDTutorial.pdf
and I don't see the clips as described.
Copied the files to disk from the Memory card and used VW and I'm able to convert the files, but no sound, the clips play fine with the ImageMixer player. the only way to import the clips is to play them and capture them

Vista Premium 64bit SP2
Dell Studio APES 435MT

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time...

I tried 2 Methods, These are the steps taken...
First Method
1 Plug the HF10 to USB
2 Browse to Mem Card and drag and drop clips to VideoWave
2a also tried the video convert but get lock icon
2b copy files to disk and drag n drop tp VideoWave

Second Method
1 copy files to disk using the Pixela utility which converts the clips m2ts files
2 drag n drop with VideoWave

The ImageMixer player is a Pixela Player that came with the Canon HF10.

anything else that i may be missing?

thanks

Now seriously, we're talking about Roxio Software! Do you think I would have your camera software laying around to install and use?

Take the file I got from the email and download it to your hard drive, open videowave and add it to a project "convert the files" (tell me how?). Do you have audio?

cd I, didn't imply anything that you should have the camera software, you did asked and I answered your question.  I used this utility to troubleshoot this problem with Creator 2009 Ultimate, which I may add is ok for a home user once it installs correctly, I know Vista is a problem with it. I've created many projects with Roxio products including HD movies but I suspect the problem starter with SP4

no it didn't work
1 open videowave and selected the file
2 it asked to convert clicked yes
No sound

Thanks

Confirmed; no problem with the audio.

Pay4Life; In Video Wave, go to show hidden tracks and click on native track; what do you see?  There should be a line about half way up in the native audio track.  Have you added any audio codecs?

Repair or Clean Install?
Update audio drivers?
