Don't know when this problem started.
Files created with EMC10 VideoWave ('DVD Playback', 'MPEG2 for DVD best quality', Video:'ROXIO MPEG-2 Video Encoder',  Audio:'ROXIO AC3 Encoder', .mpg files) {on Dell XP machine}

In Windows Media Player (WMP) 11, audio present but no video. Properties: Audio codec:'Sonic Cinemaster Audio Decoder 4.3', Video codec:'Sonic Cinemaster VideoDecoder 4.3'.

In CinePlayer (3.9. Build 391B46A), audio but no video.

The files play correctly on another computer.

I suspect a 'codec' problem, but don't know where to start.

You can't.  You can find a place to post the image on line and give us a link for it or you can just post the details about the video and audio codecs.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

GSpot results:

1. Status: 'Ready (236 codecs loaded)'

2. File open and MS A/V 1 clicked: 'Render OK. The following combination of filters was used:
(Src)-->>--(A)-->[Sonic HD Demuxer ]>--(cool.gif-->[Sonic Cinemaster Audio Decoder 4.3]>--©-->[Default DirectSound Device ]'

when playing, there is sound only, no video. As you can see there is no video codecs rendered?

3. GSpot Vid 1 clicked: six lines of renedring with 'Status: not renerded yet. Use [2] to rendere'

4. GSpot Vid 2 clicked: two lines video render ok. '[Roxio MPEG2 Demuxer][Roxio MPEG2 Video Decoder][Video Render]'
'[Roxio MPEG2 Demuxer][Roxio Smart Decoder][Video Render]'

video plays fine.

5. GSpot Aud 2 clicked:

What video card/chip do you have on the computer where the DVD won't play?  Have you updated the drivers for it?  In CinePlayer, look for the tools and turn off video acceleration.  It is probably set to "use if available"  Does it play OK now?

The screen shot says VOB.  Are you trying to play a DVD or video files?  Where did you get the VOB files?  Set Windows to NOT hide known extensions and then rename the files to mpg2 from the VOB.  Do those play OK?

3. I just updated the drivers from Dell site.

4. Set Hardware Acceleration(DXVA) to off in CinePlayer, still no video.

5. Files were created with EMC10 VideoWave ('DVD Playback', 'MPEG2 for DVD best quality', Video:'ROXIO MPEG-2 Video Encoder', Audio:'ROXIO AC3 Encoder')
They are .mpg files. I used to be able to play these same files in WMP before.  I do all of my video clips this way and them put them together in MyDVD.

6. Renamed file to *.mpg2, the file is not recognized by CinePlayer or WMP.

7. Renamed files to *.mp2, the file is recognized in both, but still no video.

I changed to a single monitor, logged off and back on, with no change in result (still no video).

I tried deleting the Sonic modules but as soon as I clicked on a .mpg file, a CinePlayer module rebuilt them with popup message.

Might be time for a shotgun approach on this

Try the K-Lite codec pack from here:

http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_...c_pack_mega.htm

and see if that helps

I tried to play a commercial DVD and sure enough, the Video in both WMP11 and CinepPlayer were choppy.

On the site you sent me to in last post, I did not like the Privacy Policy and Terms relating to Advertising.
Have you used their codec package yourself, and found it to be acceptable?

I have seen the mention of 'ffdshow-tryouts' in some of the search results forums.

Do you know anything about the 'ffdshow-tryouts'  from sourceforge.net?

Are they the same codec package?

I am leary of any downloads now, as I don't know what started my problem.

I've never had any problems with k-lite. ffdshow is included in the package I think but you can always uninstall ot (or even do a selective install)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I downloaded and installed K-Lite Mega Codec (5.4.4).

I don't know if I made all the right choices during installation.

My .mpg files work fine now in WMP11 and most other players. (WMP indicates using ffdshow for audio and video)

CinePlayer still does not show video, and I don't know how to determine which codec's it is using.

There are several tools installed with the K-Lite package, but not much help on how to use them.

This whole codec/filter thing has my head spinning.  (I have spent too much time on this issue and have that 'Search Overload' problem. Did not try Bing)

I am hoping that one of the tools will help with CinePlayer.

Thanks for all your help and support.

Any suggestions on resolving CinePlayer would be appreciated.
