Early this month, I purchased and downloaded MyDVD Premier 10.0.  Last week, I noticed on the download page that there was an upgrade to 10.1, so, I downloaded it.  The download page stated,

QUOTE
•During the install, your existing installed copy of MyDVD 10 Premier will be replaced with the updated version. You will also be prompted to type the CD Key provided with your original purchased copy. If you need help locating your CD Key, please go here.

Now, when I try to install it, it tells me the following...

The key "XX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" is not valid.  Verify that you entered the right key.

I used the same CD key that I got when I installed version 10.0.  Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

Do you meet all the criteria stipulated below to be able to install the Service Pack? Do you have the Windows 7 compatible version of the software?

For existing MyDVD 10 Premier - Windows 7 Compatible Version users only.

  • Service Pack 1 does not offer any new features.
  • You must own a valid copy of the full Windows 7 Compatible Version of MyDVD 10 Premier.
  • If you did not purchase a retail copy, this update will not work for any other version of MyDVD.
  • You must be a registered user to download the Service Pack.

Take another look at that page.  It implies there is an update available for all MyDVD users.

There's no mention of Windows 7 as a requirement for this update.

Are you able to use the CDkey in question with 10.0? If yes, I suggest installing the existing version and try applying this update.

Do you have the build highlighted above?

Yes, I did check the CD key.  I used it to install 10.0 without any problems.

firenhancer:

What is the update you are suggesting?

Since the product purchase was recent, it is likely you have a version that is compatible with W7 and hence applying "MyDVD 10.1 Premier Update" may not work with your existing CDkey due to the fact that it is applicable for earlier version of MyDVD Premier. Instead try applying MyDVD 10 Premier - Windows 7 Compatible Version" Sp1 update if you have not already applied.
