The movies you download from Venue, through CinemaNow, will only burn on Qflix media and only in a Qflix drive!!!
And you only get one chance at it after you buy a movie…
It just does not sound as though we are on the same page
Might be good if you would describe this step by step.

Sure, thanks for your patience. After a family vacation, I put together a movie (slide show with music ) with Microsoft Movie Maker. I soon realized in was in need of a DVD burner in so that I could share this move with other and they could use their home DVD player and view it on their TV. Purchased the above mentioned external drive and installed the Roxio software that was included in the box. Utilizing the Easy CD and DVD software and the My DVD Express utility, I selected the dvd format, selected the appropriate file, (*.wmv) selected output drive, configured desired quality and began the burn process. The utility initiates the burn by identifying what it call the encoding process. This continues to 20% and fails to continue further. No errors just stops.

Darn, thought we had a legitimate Qflix/Venue question…
OK, need to split this out and move it to the right forum. I am guessing you have the Red Box 9 non-Win7 certified???
We will move Here.
You can disregard what I said about the Qflix media/burner requirement. Doesn't apply to the Red Box version.

No box, just cd envelope. This link : http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/review/pion...l-dvdcd-writer/ has very good pictures of all of the products that came with the drive

What you want to do is test the Application with something else.
To do that start MyDVD Express and add a few still pictures, the Windows Sample Pictures will be fine.
Then tell it to Create Disc.
If you have some DVD RW around, use that since it can be erased and reused.
If not, just clear the checkmark by the burner and tell it to burn to file. It will create an ISO file, make note of where since you will want to simply delete it when done. We are only interested in seeing if the process works at this point…
So you’re a jayhawker… Lived a year in Lawrence, KS, lots of Jayhawkers there!

Now what? Hardware issues?

Now what? Hardware issues?
Now repeat it with your Project, burning to ISO.
Confirm that your version has Creator Classic listed under Data??? (it can burn that ISO to disc, which is the next step!)
Do you have any RW to use?

Sucsessfully burned to disk the MS sample video.
Attempted the iso burn to file, failed to repeat successfully using my project. I open up the MS Movie Maker project and re-saved the project under a different name and it failed too. Just have DVD-R

Load your Project in WMM and find a way to Export it as a mpeg or DV (digital video) file…
This will force WMM to re-render the file and that often fixes whatever the bump is.
Then load that file into a new MyDVD Express project and burn it.
The ISO is a good step to take. You should be able ot burn the ISO in Creator Classic (File – Burn from Disc Image File) or it should be available under Copy…
I don't have that version of the Red Box loaded anywhere at the moment, so I am doing a little creative guessing
