I just purchased 2010 as an upgrade from creator 9.
It seems to have installed, but I cannot open video programs, specifically create DVDs, Edit videos (still testing out the rest). When I try open any of the video programs, I receive the following.

videowave.exe error
the application failed to initialize properly "0xc0000005"

I seem to recall receiving a similar error with creator 9 and that it had a simple fix, but I don't remember. The reason I gave up on creator 9, now several years later was because I couldn't find fixes for it and thought an upgrade was in order.

dell dimension dx061
Window XP
intel core 2
2.4 GHZ
2 GB

Suggestions?

"Creator 9" is a program that has been out of production for years… They have nothing in common.

First thing to try is the Repair option from Add/Remove Programs.

If that doesn't work… Then XP

Good, per EMC 9.

Not so good with the error message biggrin.gif

Now do the Clean Install, I gave you the link.

this computer doubles as my husband's small business computer, I'm not sure I feel confident enough to mess with the MSCONFIG or system registry myself. I'll see if I can find a friend with more experience who feels he can work with those areas of the PC without losing my husband's business information.

Going through the repair options and the Windows Install Clean up, however has now given me a new piece of information. VIDEOWAVE12.EXE error. I see that there are others who are also having videowave12 messages.

Not really anything new… the videowave12.exe is the VideoWave program.

But without a Clean install it will not fix itself. I understand your reluctance under those circumstances.
