You will have to give some more details.
Are you talking about the background audio for the video or for the menu.
For the video, the audio can't be longer then the video. For the menu, I think having a menu longer then 30 seconds is not "viewer friendly" I am certain that most people are not interested in watching a menu just to hear some audio.

I would like for the menu to be longer.I also tried adding the song as a selection but that didn't work either. It is for a dedication for my late grandmother and i wanted the song to be seperate so her children could listen to it and think back on their memories before they see the video, and having it all on one disc.

Look at any commercial DVD ever made. Note they repeat at the 20 second mark.
Have you ever rented a movie just to watch Menu? Make a good project and skip the cartoon.

Nobody watches or listens to a menu
If you want it to be a dedication then add it as the Intro movie (which will get played every time you put the DVD in a player) or add it as a movie to the menu page which you can select. Create a slideshow to last as long as the song.
