Hello, I recently upgraded from Vista 64 to 7 Home premium 64 and since have not been able to create a dvd from my TIVO shows. I get this message; "The file you are trying to use is protected by Digital Rights Management and has not been added". I've not seen this message before the upgrade to "7".
Thanks for any advice

It's DRM, initiated by TIVO.  Nothing you can do with the file, with the Roxio software, to burn it.  It's a TIVO issue.

I've been making these DVDs since I got TIVO three years ago using first XP and then Vista with never an issue. There are shows on my PC hard drive that I had already successfully burned before I upgraded to "7" so I tried to do them again and could not. Why would it change? Previously, the only protected items are those that are downloaded from the WEB and they are already marked as unavailable to transfer.
Thanks

I haven't a clue why it would change.  Maybe Win 7 thinks that the files are DRM protected.

DRM was tighten by TiVo recently and DRM was tightened up in Win7… The DRM screws will continue to get tighter and tighter as time goes on… No getting away from that!

I am more surprised that EMC 9 even runs in Win7  ohmy.gif

Hello, Through trial and error, I have solved my problem.
When I first encountered the DRM message I went to the TIVO program and checked the Media Access Key. It was there and correct so I dismissed that as being a cause. I then canvassed your forums, TIVO forums, Windows forums and the support teams of both Roxio and TIVO. While awaiting response, I kept tinkering. Finally I simply deleted the MAK from TIVO Desktop closed the program, rebooted the PC, reopened TIVO, reinserted the MAK and lo and behold all is well. It's a mystery to me but I'll not question it.
Perhaps this help others who upgrade from Vista to 7

Thanks for posting your solution.

One correction:  Since we are users, like you, and don't work for Roxio, this is not our forum.
