Toast 9 Basic update check fails

I recently bought EyeTV, which included Toast 9 Basic v. 9.0.4. After installing (under Snow Leopard 10.6.2) I have not been able to check for updates. I receive the message "Update check failed", error code 1634955892. I am connected to the internet, and Little Snitch asks for (and is given) permission for Toast to connect to www.roxio.com on port 80. Given the lack of mention of Toast 9 Basic on this site I am suspicious that they are not supporting updates.

I directly downloaded the Toast 9.0.7 update, but couldn't install because I don't have a serial. (Basic doesn't apparently have a serial.) Again, I don't find a Basic updater on the site, so the internal updater seems to be the only option. It just doesn't work.

Any ideas?

I'm unaware of any updates for Toast 9 Basic.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
