DVD playback Original DVD's will not play on all players

Why will burned DVD's not play on all recorders?

depends on media and also the player - cheap ones play anything, expensive ones are picky

Some players specifically state they'll deal with DVD-R, some DVD+R, some say both, some include RW discs. And as was said, quite often the cheaper players are much more forgiving and accepting of any disc, where the more expensive ones are "picky". I have a $30 Magnavox DVD player that pretty much plays anything I put in it, -R, +R, scratched... whatever. My $250 Sony DVD Recorder player usually doesn't care much for DVD-R, sometimes it's happy with the +R discs, and if it's a scratched up rental... well, put it in the $30 Magnavox.

Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee that you any disc you write on your computer will play in any DVD player it's put in.
