Hi all - sorry to rehash something that has obviously been rehashed many times before, but I'm very new to this.
I got my TiVo last week, and one of the main reasons for choosing it was this Home Networking Package. It's disappointing that you need to buy 3rd party software to make it work, but as long as it worked, I could accept it. So I bought Popcorn because TiVo told me either Toast or Popcorn would do, as did their Mac user guide (which isn't very helpful). I downloaded Popcorn and ???? I rang TiVo for some support and they tell me that only Toast works, NOT Popcorn. I raise all kinds of hell at how they wasted my money, and today received an email telling me Popcorn will work, but to contact Roxio because it's nothing to do with them. Nice!
SO..... what do I do? I have NO CLUE how to make this work??? My Mac now appears in my TiVo Now Playing list, but there's nothing in it. How do I move the recordings from Tivo into my Mac?
Mac2Tivo seems to only let me move things from my Mac to my TiVo and not the other way around (not that I have anything on my Mac to test it with). And the Tivo menu in Popcorn itself is blank.
Sorry to be such a noob, but seriously, how do you do this??? I don't even know where to start.

The following is from Bob. I can't claim this genius, but I wanted you to see it. It took some head scratching, then I eventually found what he was describing, then double clicked on the 'TivoTransfer.tar.gz'. This worked for me. I then dragged the icon onto my desktop.
If it's still not showing, go to the folder where the Toast application is located and right click on the Toast application itself. Choose "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu that appears. Then go into the "Resources" folder that shows in the "Contents" folder. Scroll down and you should see something like "TiVoTransfer.tar.gz" in there. Do not change anything in the package contents for now -- just see if that file is in there. Of course, if running the setup assistant took care of the issue, there's no reason to go into there.

Well I never would have figured this out on my own, so THANK YOU (and Bob too)! It worked right away and everything on my Now Playing list has been listed in the Tivo Transfer screen. I'm yet to actually attempt a transfer, but that's a whole other issue. At least now I know where to start. I did just as you said with the file and dragged it to my desktop, and it all appears to be ok. Much appreciated! This has been a huge source of frustration for days now. I'm just so relieved I don't have to buy Toast to make this work.
