Getting Jerky results burning a blu-ray AVCHD disk with with Toast 10 from imovie 09 as follows:
1) Camera: Canon HG10
2) Camera Setting: 60i (interlaced).
3) Source Clips info: Apple intermediate codec, 1440 x 1080, 29.97 fps after camera import of "full".
4) Export Details: "Export using Quicktime"-"Movie to Quicktime Movie"-"Options"-"Video Settings" Conversion type=Apple Intermediate Codec, Frame Rate=Current", Preset = Other interlaced. Export Size Setting=1280 x 720. Export Video is: Apple intermediate codec, 1280 x 720, 25 fps per Toast 10 which agrees with the movie inspector of quicktime 10. Reference: See: Creating higher-quality HD video with iMovie '09 « David Glover
5) Toast 10 Input: imovie 09 export above.
6)Toast 10 Settings: "Video"-"blu-ray Video"-"Options"-Encoding = MPEG-4 AVC 8.0 mbps (16.0 mbps max) Progressive.

I was able to solve the problem, instead of using the frame rate of "current" in the imovie export I changed it to "29.97 fps" to match the source frame rate (should be the same, but current results in a export of 25 FPS). The export still looked pretty jerky when playing in quicktime 10 (Mac Mini can't keep up 1280 x 720), but smooth when burning a AVCHD disk in toast 10 and playing on my blu-ray player.
