Dear Toast Support,

we encountered the following error message when we did a DVD-Video format verification of a DVD burned with Toast using the software ImageCopy developed by Eclipse Data: Control data & main data region code disagree
The region code of the Control data area differs from the region code in the main data area.

Background
A region code is used to describe the region of the world where a DVD-Video is allowed to play. In a DVD
player, the region code also restricts playability of DVD-Videos with a matching region code. Although the
purpose of the region code is to restrict DVD-Video movies and DVD-Players to a certain countries, you
will often find DVD players in many countries supporting different region codes.

The region code is recorded in the Control data during Lead-in. In the Main data, the region code is
recorded in the Video Manager file. Since the Region Code applies to the DVD image as a whole and not to
a specific file, both region codes should be the same. Otherwise, this may cause the encoder system or DVD
player to select the incorrect region code.

Could you please let me know how I can avoid this error? Furthermore, please resolve the problem with the next release of Toast.

1. This is not Roxio Support. Submit your request here
2. The issue appears to be more related how this video content has been processed vs how it is burnt. This is not a Toast Issue. Toast does not have ability to alter any content when burning it as a DVDROM.

I suggest verify the process you are adapting to output the Video content.

I don't believe Toast can burn region codes. But I may be mistaken.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

hi i just bought toast 10 today and for test run i made an audio dvd. the app crashed after getting to 100%, but rebooting the mac the dvd loaded and menu worked but when i clicked a song apple dvd player crashed with error 7001, which i've read is wrong region code.

i tried again and it happened again. tried in a real dvd player and it gave error that disc was in wrong region. so i am worried that roxio may have changed something on my system. i have never had any region issues with burning discs before.

yes i did submit this to support already today but wanted to see what others may have encountered regarding this issue.

And what geographical location are you at? Are your source video NTSC or PAL?
