Purchased toast 7 today with understanding from sales rep I would be able to compile/copy multiple DVD mini discs from camcorder into one standard size 4.0 GB DVD. Does not appear "multiple write sesssions" can be peformed for DVD's. Can not figure how to copy multiple dvd disc content/file to a "content area" to burn onto one DVD.
Does anyone know if this is possible with toast 7 or any other software for an imac G5??
thanks for any input.

The process is to extract the individual videos from your mini discs and place them together in the Toast Video window.
Start by choosing DVD video as the format for the Toast Video window. Click the Media button (upper left) to enter the Media Browser. Choose DVD with the Top button. Your mounted mini disc should appear in the window below. Use the lower button to go down one level on the disc. You should see the different titles that are recorded to the disc. Drag them to the Video window. This extracts the MPEGs and writes them to the Roxio Converted Items folder. (Note: that folder is automatically emptied when you quit Toast unless you change that in Toast Preferences).
From here you should be able to follow the steps to create your video DVD that has the content from multiple mini discs. They all burn in one session.

Thanks tsantee. Great to know. I have the same requirement as jcs83, so I am looking at buying an external DVD burner which comes with Toast 7 (The LaCie d2).
Question: To combine multiple mini-dvds (from my Sony handycam) into one DVD, is the relatively slow speed of my ibook G4-800MHz going to present a practical problem? I don't wish to transcode the video, but wondering if transcoding will happen whether I like it or not.

I've used my 933 mhz G4 iBook with Toast and it works well. The only thing that is a nuisance is the slow hard drive for extracting the MPEG. Also, you need some free hard drive space -- I'd say at least 10 GB free. So if you have a Firewire or USB 2 hard drive available you should use it. Set the external drive for the Converted Items Folder, too.
No re-encoding is needed for the MPEG 2 video recorded by a mini-DVD camcorder as long as it is recording at a resolution that meets the video DVD spec. It should do that unless there is some kind of extra long recording setting. Toast has a multiplexing step prior to burning but it moves right along.
