Hi,
I'm running Toast 10.0.6, Mac OS 10.6.2 on a Quad Core 2.66 Mac Pro, 14 GB RAM, hundreds of GB free on all HD's.
I'm trying to make a BD of a soccer game from a 3:30 hour long .ts file (PAL 1080i50 from a Humax HD satellite receiver with hard disc). I "deselected" out the first 20 minutes, halftime and the last 40 minutes of the source movie using Toast Video Player. So, the overall length is just over 2 hours and Toast shows 17.5 GB is used on disc. I burn the BD (Verbatim, 4x) using my internal LG SATA drive (from OWC). No errors reported, disc burns and verifies just fine. However, the BD has only about 7 GB on it!!!! Only the first half of the game, right up to the point where I "deselected" halftime in Toast Video Player. This has happened TWICE using two different source .ts files (both soccer games, both 3:30 hours original length, both only burned the first half). The visible burnt area on the disc is quite small, only about 15 mm in width.
So, since these BD discs are expensive I thought I would burn to a disc image and see what happens. Great! The disc image is truly 17.5 GB in size. So, I load the disc image in Toast and burn another disc. But, again, only the first half of the game is on the disc!!!! How can this be??? The disc image is 17.5 GB but the burnt physical disc has only 7 GB of data! What is really strange is the visible burnt area on the disc is about 40 mm wide.
It sucks that I cannot at least preview the BD disc image before burning. These BD discs are expensive.
Is this a bug in Toast? It sure seems so. I wonder if it can't handle the very long HD .ts source (about 30 GB). Please help! Is there anything else I can try or some setting to change?

I'm not an expert at previewing BD files, but here's something that might work. There is a program called MakeMKV (add .com for web site) that can convert your BD into mkv files. See web site for info on how to create. Then you can use another program to play mkv files. Programs that can play mkv files include VLC, or Quicktime if install Perian software. I could only use Quicktime 7 player to view with Perian. For some reason, Quicktime 10 did not want to load. Anyway. whichever player you use, it may be jerky to watch mkv video, but you could at least see if last half of video was there. BTW, Quicktime 7 player seemed to work better for me when manually skimming play point ahead. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip on how to preview... I'll give that a try.
Anyone have any idea why Toast only burns half the video file but yet reports no errors???
Thanks much,
Mace

Is anyone from Roxio there? I have also submitted a support request on this issue and have heard nothing.
It seems that most of the issues here on the forum have to do with Bluray. It is strange that this format has been around for 3 or 4 years yet is still so difficult to work with.

This is a user forum although it is monitored and administered by Roxio. I have not come across any user reporting this issue. BTW video authoring is related with time vs size of the file. What brand of BD media are you using?

Verbatim 4x single layer.
I have done further testing and know that this is a bug with Toast. When I export the same movies to QuickTime only part of the movie gets exported. No errors are reported by Toast.
Roxio support has not responded to my screen shots (I opened a support ticket). I am still waiting on feedback from Roxio.
i can't seem to upload a pdf document to this forum, otherwise I would post my screenshots of what I am seeing.
Any suggestions?
Mace
