Hope I'm not in completely the wrong place.

I have a couple of DVDs wirth MPEG files and I'm on Vista Home Premium. They don't play.

So I ordered and down loaded CinePlayer DVD Decoder for Windows Vista v1.0. I ran the .exe and all seemed OK. However there is no sign of the app. When I try to re-install the app I'm told to uninstall existing app first via control panel. However I've tried that and it does not appear on the list so I am unable to un-install it.

I've tried registering the product with the key I have but it keeps failing and suggersting I try later.

Meanwhile my PayPal account has been debited.
pretty fed up and it's my birthday today!!!
Anyone got any ideas please.

Thanks

1. Happy Birthday smile.gif
2. Go to Control Panel --> Program --> Uninstall and confirm if you are able to see an entry related to CP Decoder.
3. Have you tried playing a DVD after installing CP decoder using WMP?

Try this :
1. Uninstall CP decoder by running CP decoder installer.
2. Temp turn off UAC
3. Create a temp new user account with admin rights
4. Install CP decoder
5. Reboot
6. Login to new account and test the DVD

P.S. what kind of DVDs are you trying to play? Are these store bought/rented Movie DVDs?

****Update *** : From MS site : If you're running Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate, DVD capabilities are included as part of the operating system.

Both the DVDs are from reputable sources. Both have .VOB files. One is about bread baking and one embroidery. I cannot find a way to play them. I am on Windows Vista Home premium on a Dell laptop. And I've worked in It for the past 20yrs plus!!!

I've tried running the exe again but still get told uninstall via CP but it isn't there. The setup box closes automatically.

1. Suggest taking refund for CP decoder pack. I don't think the parameters are set for install on Vista Home Premium.
2. Contact MS to find out why you are unable to play DVDs.

OK I am a complete and utter dunce because I've no played in in Windows media Player. I guess I was sort of expecting it to auto play where actually I had to open the player first.

Still having paid or the Roxio product I would like to get it working.

Thanks

CP Decoder only installs decoder whereby enabling DVD playback capabilities on systems that donot natively support DVD playback using WMP. There is no UI. In this case, it is not required since Vista Home Premium natively supports it.

Yes. Go to www.findmyorder.com/roxio Login with order details and you should be able to locate an option for refund. Follow the process. This is automated and is less painful than going via phone and waiting in queue wink.gif

Actually, it's a good thing if Vista is set NOT to automaticly do something - it won't automaticly install Viruses, for example.

The older Windows Versions did automaticly play things - all my computers have had that disabled.

I like to know what is being played or installed.
