Hi,

I hope this is something obvious I am overlooking.  When I go into Roxio it would appear I am missing all the video editing features the software offers (create DVD, edit video, copy video).  These are the three icons that display on the bottom of the homepage's frequent tasks.  My homepage looks very different from what was advertised. This is how my HP currently looks:

I have installed Roxio 10 Creator on a Windows 7 machine a couple times now.  I have followed the Complete Uninstall directions (removed from Control Panel, regsitry, Program files, etc.) yet still am not able to access the video editor.

It should be known that after my first install, I saw these applications (at that time there was some other bug that forced me to reinstall everything). They went missing after subsequent installations of the software.

Perhaps related to the problem, when I open Roxio a dialog box pops open that reads: the following applications should be closed before continuing the install: COM Server wrapper for Vx Block DLL.

That is Creator 2010; not Roxio (Easy Media Creator) 10.  someone in their infinite wisdom used the designation 2010 and people tend to shorten the name.  You are not the first.   That Home page is titled frequent tasks.  It will change when you have used a task frequently enough to get it to push out one that is there.

Go down to the Movies/Video tab.  Are the applications listed there?  If not, there is a possibility that the re-install has been screwed up.  Post back if you don't see the application in the Movies/Video tab.

Your Video/Movies tab should look like this:

Yeah I thought it had something to do with EMC.  After not installing for the nth time, I poked around the EMC_120 folder to see if clicking on some of the files in there would do anything.  That endeavor bared no fruit.

You'll see my Video tab is missing quite a few components:

To give some idea of my re-install process, I have been trying to cut out as many variables each time.  I followed all the instructions for removing any trace of Roxio (ala Complete Uninstall of Creator 2009 and 2010 (Windows Vista and 7), Direct Link).  Furthermore, after the fourth time, I decided to extract the files from the install and running from the new folder it created.  Still come out with the same result.  While I have not used the program much it looks like the only error message I get is the one I described above.  Thus I hope after I clear this EMC hurdle it might be smooth sailing.

Try this

Download this file

http://www.dutran.com/Roxio/setup.zip

Unzip the files and place setup.exe and CleanSystem.bat in the install folder. Then run CleanSystem.bat
After uninstalling and rebooting run the normal installation process.

There's no need to delete temp files or mess with the registry. The batch file should remove what is needed to install. If that doesn't work then we'll need to re-investigate.

I am having a similar problem. I have followed tech supports directions for completely removing all traces of Roxio and Roxio related products on my machine and done 3 CLEAN installs now all with the same result. Everything appears to install but when I click on the Roxio desktop icon to start the program, the screen comes up with NO applications icons. So far tech support has been no real help and keeps closing the ticket even though the problem is not fixed. I am inserting a screen shot. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks to over a week of back and forth emails and log files and suggestions, Du Tran finally fixed my problem. Although we tried so many things and installed and uninstalled probably eight times, I'm not sure what finally fixed the problem. Thanks for you patience and perseverance Du.

The missing plugins as we referred to them were caused by a corrupt msxml service on the computer. The solution was downloading the latest from microsoft and removing a few cache files

The update can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Then you'll need to delete a few files:

XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sonic\rxc.db
C:\Documents and Settings\<installed user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sonic_Solutions (Delete whole folder)

Vista and Win7:
C:\ProgramData\Sonic\rxc.db
C:\Users\<installed user>\AppData\Local\Sonic_Solutions (Delete whole folder)
