I'm having a problem with searching for this so I hope I haven't stumbled on a FAQ.

In an inadvertent moment I bought some DVD+R disks instead of DVD-R.   My desktop player will only take these if they are recorded in VR mode.  Can I burn a disk in VR mode with Toast 10?

If not, is there any software out there which will do this?

TIA

No. Toast does not support burning in VR mode. Are you able to provide more information on the player as well as what would you like to achieve?

Thanks DM.  My DVD player is a Sony RDR HX720 with a 160 GB hdd.  It will record to DVD+R disks so I guess I can use up the disks I bought in archiving shows I have saved on the recorder.  I was hoping I could use up these disks for recording avi files and other stuff I download for playing later on the big screen.

You could still use to backup or even author the discs using Toast. I guess, you intend to perform multi-session burns so that you can add data when needed to use the disc. Let me know if I'm, getting this right.

Have you tried creating a video DVD with Toast on the DVD+R disc and attempted to play it on the Sony. I believe it should work. Usually VR mode is only when recording with the standalone DVD recorder. Apparently you can't record in video mode with the DVD+R discs but I don't see why it would matter with a properly authored DVD using Toast.

One more thing about VR mode. Toast can read the VR-mode disc recorded on your Sonly recorder without your need to do any finalizing of the disc (video mode discs must be finalized). Insert the VR-mode DVD and select it with the Toast Media Browser. Drag the contents to the Video or Convert windows to extract the video files from the disc.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
