Like you, I was happy with an earlier version of the Easy Media Creator (5) and decided to upgrade to EMC8. I was so frustrated I was ready to set fire to my computer! It kept stalling during the rendering process. Then I tried a couple of things that were not mentioned anywhere in the Help file: I disabled my Virusscan. That seemed to help but was not consistent: sometimes I was able to get to 100% complete and sometimes not. Then I made sure my entire storyline (while editing) was highlighted before I went to Output as. This seems to get me through the entire rendering process as well as the encoding while producing the DVD. To recap: 1. disable the virusscan, 2. highlight the whole production to make sure the clips are connected.
