Hi.  I successfully completed my first ever production a few weeks ago and burned it to DVDs too--all went well.  I am now working on my second production but when I preview the new one I hear the audio from the first!  I went into the Video Capture tool and the correct audio plays when I preview newly captured video so I think the problem is located somewhere in the Editing program.  I appreciate any suggestions!  Thanks!

Brian.

Yes.   In VideoWave go to Tools\ Options \ File Control and delete the Audio Preview Files.

This usually happens when both old and new video files have the same name, but not always.

ml--Is that similar to what happed to me when I had the poblems with my Narration files getting mixed up. Sounds to me like one would have to make a separate folder for each audio production as I had to do with my NAR files. Then even if they had the same name they wouldn't get mixed up.

Frank,

It's similar, but not really.   I think both are bugs in the program.

What happens is the VideoWave program looks for an audio preview file for the production.

Sometimes if the new file has the same filename as the old file, the program will automatically find the audio preview files from the first production because the audio preview file has the name that the program is looking for.   It won't build new audio preview files, just play the old ones.

And sometimes it plays those audio preview files by mistake.

When you delete the audio preview files, you force VideoWave to make new ones with the new video.

The audio preview files aren't used for anything but playing back the sound when you preview a production, so you can safely delete them periodically.

Thanks ml. That makes sense. Usually until I get 100% completed with any production, especially ones that have audio files of any kind, I tend to make a special folder for them and copy them there. Just in case.

I have found that sometimes not ALL the files get deleted when I use Tools\ Options \ File Control to delete the Audio Preview Files.  Instead it requires going in to do it manually - - - Documents and Settings - user - Application Data (this is a hidden folder so folder settings might need to be changed) - Roxio - VideoWave7 - Proxy.  Removing everything there has always fixed the wrong soundtrack problem for me.

Copying the files to a special folder is a good idea with files that are actually used in the production.

However, these are audio PREVIEW files that are made specifically for you to hear the changes in the audio.    They are not files that are used in the final production.  They are used only when you hit the Preview button in VideoWave.
