Hi
I have a question on how to convert vcd movie to dvd.
Many foreign movies unfortunate is sold as vcd and not dvd and not all player in the usa support vcd because vcd don't seem to be a hot item in the usa as compare to the foreign market.
I got the conversion done with roxio 2009
1st I converted the .dat file from both vcd disk which is usually cdr into dv for avi.
then I used create dvd and plug in these 2 files and set it to play one after another when the dvd is played
no problem but...
as file 1 is finished playing after dvd is made it pause and then continue file 2. where file 1 was original from vcd disk 1 and file 2 was from vcd disk 2 both converted as dv format avi. it reads no problem and convert no problem.
My question is is there a way that after file 1 do not freeze for a few seconds before file 2 is being played and I can watch the movie straight? It seems that after file 1 ends it freezes for a few (maybe 2-4) seconds or so and then file 2 is read.
Any advise is highly appreciated
Thanks in advance for any reply

The .DAT files of a VCD are mpeg1 352 X 240. If you have a SVCD then you have 480 X 480 mpeg2 files.
Your Final Output will determine how you want to proceed…
Your choices would be to chain them into one long movie. Or to add them as separate Titles (menu buttons) and click the on you want to see.
For Input, I would suggest using VideoWave (Edit Video-Advanced) and simply click on the Add Photo/Video button. Then point it to your Drive\MPEGAV\xxxx.DAT file:
Once in VW you can Export As and make it a video file – I used mpeg2 Best Quality in this example.
Of course VW is an excellent editor so after you have made movie files you can put them together in VW perhaps adding a transitions between clips.
There may be some difference in ratio, you can see in my sample that the VCD I made with ECD 5 doesn't quite fit a 4:3 project window…
I could play in VW and use a color panel then add the clips as Overlays and adjust the size to yield a balance between Size & Quality…
You want to try many things before you bore into it! Get some RW discs to play with.

Thank you for your answer....
the problem is each movies are 2 cdr or vcd.
what I am looking for is take those 2 file and combine into 1 before burning or making the dvd. Because right now if I leave it as 2 file at the end of playing 1 file it pauses for a few seconds before it plays the 2nd video I don't want that. It is unfortunate most good movie from overseas are available only in vcd. For many of us it must be converted to dvd to play. watching vcd is a pain as you have to change disk dvd you don't.

You say you have the two files converted to your hard drive from the VCD. Now simply launch myDVD and add the 2 files. They will be seamlessly combined for the DVD
