Is it possible to copy part of a DVD? I want to take one performance of our band off of a recently shot video and put it on our site. How is it done and can it be done by the time stamp? For example if the song I want starts at the 30min 10 sec mark and goes to 34min 50 sec, can I copy it that way? Thanks in advance to all that answer.

Copy the files from the DVD using Windows. Add the VOB files to Video Wave.  You should see several VOB files.  Note: VOB files are mpg2 files in disguise.  You will have to set Windows to NOT HIDE known extensions and then rename the file with that extension.  Pick the one that would be about where you want the video

                                                                                                                                                                   I am a novice at this and was hoping for a simpler answer, as I have no idea what you are talking about. I have ESM 7.5 and if that software will not copy part of a DVD, then can someone recommend software that can. I don't care what brand it is, as long as it is easy to use.

If you are unable to follow sknis' clear explanation, then you would probably be better off finding a more technically knowledgable friend to do it for you.

"Easy" is a word used by marketing in reference to making DVDs, but it is mostly marketing hype.

alecstar.lynn is correct.  99% of what I said was to be done with Windows and has nothing to do with the Roxio product.  Perhaps that item is throwing you off.  

What part of the instructions do you not understand how to do?  What version of Windows are you using?  Now I'm not sure what Roxio product you have.  Please state that.

                                                                                                                                                                    Ihave Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 and have Windows XP. I have looked through my Roxio product but cannot find anything that lets you select part of a DVD. I looked on the internet and found a product called DVD Ripper that says you can copy/burn part of a DVD. I also read the reviews of various DVD burning software and NONE of them seemed to be a front runner. The reviews were all over the place. I wanted to know if my Roxio product is capable of copying/burning part of a DVD and if not, what product would you recommend? Does Windows Media Player or Real Player do what I need. And if any of the above work.. What/where do I click to get to what I need? Thanks again...

Do you ever read and try to understand anything?  You keep repeating what you want and I keep telling you.

THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN SELECT JUST PART OF A DVD TO COPY (with your version).

This is what you should do:
1) Put the DVD in your DVD burner.  If it starts to play, stop it.
2) Use Windows Explorer to explore the disc.  That is Windows Explorer; not Internet Explorer.
3) Create a new sub folder on you computer.  Make it in your Videos folder.
4) Drag the files from the disc to your computer or copy them.
5) Open the folder and select tools and then folder options:  This is for Vista but XP is similar:

6) Change the VOB extensions to mpg.
7) Close that
8) Open Video Wave
9) Add the mpg files.
10) Cut out what you don't want. (Video here)
11) Save the project, Close Video Wave, and open My DVD. Select to have or not have a menu.  Add that project to Video wave.  Select burn.

You might want to have someone help you since it appears that some computer things are not familiar to you.

You already have the program that will do what you want. Why do you keep asking for other products? Do you think they will be any easier?
You can't really expect anybody here to recommend competitors. Have you even tried what has been recommended?

Time to do a google search.     We can't suggest anything except what you would find free on the web.
