Before clicking the burn button there should be an Options button that appears in the lower part of the Popcorn window. Click that. If no compression is needed then the Options button doesn't appear. See Popcorn Help for more info.

thanks T.
ok is says quality and I see 8 green boxes on left and two blank on right, and says low compression (36%reduction)
this is the automatic mode?

Don't see any way to change or alter that.

But would one even want to?

Isn't this like 'BEST" in Toast.

Popcorn probably know what best is, right? or wrong?

Popcorn gives you the option to exclude some things from the existing DVD so that you won't need as high a reduction to fit the disc. This is explained in pages 12 and 13 of Popcorn Help.

You can choose to include all (which is the default), the main feature only or a custom selection of titles you want included and excluded.

thanks T.
So you can change what you want to include, but Popcorn will always decide the compression?

Right. Popcorn will always choose the least amount of compression needed to fit the selected content on a single-layer disc.
