I have been trying repeatedly to re-install Creator 2010 Pro on my desktop. After contacting Roxio Support, a clean installation was recommended. They provided a number of steps which I followed to the letter. When I attempt to re-install, the installation progresses to the point where setup is attempting to install Roxio Content. At that point I consistently receive an error message stating that Roxio Creator 2010 Pro must first be installed before installing Roxio Content. Supposedly, the installation of Roxio Creator 2010 Pro was an earlier step in the process. The desktop is well beyond minimum system requirements. I am working with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit, the desktop is a quad core 2.5 ghz machine with 8 gig of ram.

Any suggestions for next steps or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Try this; it is for Creator 2009 but it may help you with Creator 2010.

Did you prepare the notebook like this?.

There was probably somehting leftover when you did the Clean Uninstall; perhaps a Sonic file in MicrosoftInstaller Clean up application?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

That won't work for Creator 2010 as the product codes in the registry are unique.

Try this:
1. Uninstall everything that is Roxio related from the Control Panel Add Remove if there is anything there.
2. Run the .reg file provided in the link below
http://www.dutran.com/Roxio/RemoveUninstallKeysC2010.zip
3. Install Creator 2010

Thanks so much.  That solved the installation problem.  Two other issues have risen, but I guess that would be under a different forum.  (New to the user forum so not exactly sure of protocols)  I will mention them here, but feel free to have me post under a different topic.  When openning Creator 2010 Pro with the disk in, the program goes to the disk to find files associated with Roxio Content.  It does so successfully and loads the program.  Then the computer goes into a restart mode, shuts down and restarts.  Without the disk, Content is looking for the file and asks for the source disk.  When I hit cancel, the program loads without the restart.

The other issue is when creating slide shows, the dissolve transition jumps instead of staying smooth with every 3rd transition.  This was why I was reinstalling in the first place.  Any insights would be appreciated.  Thanks again.

The pin post and KB suggestions were for Du Tran wink.gif

Did you try to install the content files to the hard drive? I'm not sure on the download version but check for a setup or install exe file on the disc

My mistake.  It was not the content, but rather Roxio Creator Pro was trying to find a file.  It requested the installation disk and once it found the file it continued to load the program.  Once the program was loaded, the computer shut down only to automatically restart.  Without the disk and hitting cancel, the program still loaded and there was no shut down.  Thanks.

Try copying the files to the hard drive and installing it from there.

That solved the loading issue.  Thank you.

Another issue has come up in its place.  Created a slide show and when I went to burn the finished product, hit the burn button, Roxio shut down and the computer rebooted.  Any ideas?

Finally, spent the day chatting with Roxio tech people and doing all the steps they recommended.
This is what fixed my problem. Now I am able to reinstall.
Thank you.
