Spin Doctor

Question

Hi,

I am a beginning computer user who is using Spin Doctor to convert cassette taped lectured into CD format on a Mac Tiger system, 10.411 and am having difficulty saving the lectures into M4 format on Itunes. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Earlier versions of Spin Doctor were pretty buggy and that can be compounded by newer versions of QuickTime. You don't say what problem you're having so I don't know what advice to give. Spin Doctor saves as AIFF. After adding to iTunes you can have iTunes convert to AAC by selecting the track(s) and choosing the option to convert that's in the Advanced window. After conversion you'll have both the AIFF and AAC versions so you'll need to manually delete the AIFF one.

Since you're not taking advantage of the track marking and noise filtering of Spin Doctor it may be easier for you to get QuickTime Pro and use it to digitize the audio from the cassettes. Then you can export the audio directly to AAC.
