Hi I was looking for some help. I just purchased a new HP Pavilion with a DVD burner recently. I am a school teacher and my students created short 10-15 movie project. Using my DVD recorder I recorded them all on a Philips DVD-R which had 4.7 GB and 1-8X speed. The total time available was 120 minutes.  I recorded about 105 minutes onto the DVD-R.

Now comes the problem. I want to burn multiple copies of the master to give out to my students. My computer came with a Sonic Program and I also purchases Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burn. I am having the same issue with both programs. I can copy the master CD fine. However, when I go to burn the copies it will get to 70% copy and then an error screen will pop up, which says insert rewritable cd or something about memory. I have been trying to record on Memorex and Sony DVD-Rs with the same GB and recording time. What am I doing wrong?

A DVD usually only holds about an hour of video. The thing to do is instead of burning to a disc, burn it as an .iso file. Then use Disc Copier to make the disc and it will compress it as needed to fit the whole thing to 1 disc.

When I attempt to save it as an ISO I get this message "The disc you selected is not comptable with the source disc. Please select a new file type to continue." The only choices it gives me are bin or cd2.

Could be.I've never tried to copy a disc that isn't finalized.Another thing could be the process you went through. You say you recorded with your DVD recorder. Was this your camcorder?

i did finalize the master but it wouldn't record. i also tried with an unfinalized and the same problem.

i made the master on a dvd recorder. i played the students tapes via my vcr and then recroded them on my dvd recorder. that disc works fine and finalized. just can't get it to burn.

grrr....i am getting frustrated.

First, I think you are in the wrong forum although I don't think there is one for this product. I couldn't find a 'Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burn'  on their website anywhere - even in the support pages. If I remember correctly, that was like version 6. Anyway, check to see if it included Disc Copier. That is what you need to copy the DVD.

You may want to consider upgrading to the New Roxio Easy DVD Copy™ 2 Premier.
