Paul, I've moved this to the General area as the other place is for EMC8 directly and I think should be there.
Anyway, I've been able to install it on Vista B2 but not run much of it at all so I've removed it until RC1. In fact, I can't get Nero demo to install at all and the native burning in MC won't work for me (Surprise!).
Not sure what to try for now but I didn't expect much. I'm not sure if there is a way to install for XP Compatibility or not so for now, I give up.
Nice name you have there.

Timing is everything. You moved it while I submitted my post, and it caused me no end of aggravation with my computer. LOL. Possibly because the post had that dirty word "Vista" in it.
It really did take this long to get my computer back.
@Paulmer: Vista, IHMO, is an alpha product right now. I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole.

Bruce, for me, it's just plain fun. Actually, now's a good time as things are slower for me for awhile. And, surprsingly, MS has been most excellent in communicating with me. I'm very surprised. I'm taking part in an extra bit of testing specifically for Media Center and recording digital channels. There are some aspects I can't talk about but I'm a bit impressed with the idea I'm testing even though I wouldn't use or purchase the digital recording aspects of it for awhile.
But, I do have my trusty image ready if all goes to heck. Plus, I'm getting use to living on the edge. And it makes me feel younger.

Thanks Paul and grandpabruce,
I won't bother trying to install it then. Can't say I'm very impressed with Vista. It's quite stable on my system, but the protective mode thing is a real PITA. Deleting multiple files from a folder requires answering a #$^@ dialog box multiple times. I feel like disabling that function. But that would switch off one of the touted security features of Vista. I get the impression MS has changed some of the functionality from what we are used to in XP/W2K (and even earlier versions) just because they can, rather than for any real functionality improvement. I guess change is necessary, but...
I also installed the free eTrust AV for Vista. But on every reboot you have to answer two dialog boxes before the desktop runs normally. Also part of the protective mode operation!
Annoyingly, the desktop is dimmed (other than the dialog box) till you click OK or cancel. So during normal use your screen dims and brightens countless time. Quite annoying!

I hear ya on the way it continually asks you for permission and when the day comes that I actaully have the program (with all its glory) I'll turn that off. I have read enough complaints that I think they may even release it with that turned off and allow you to turn it on if you want vs. the other way around.
As for antivirus, CA would not work 100% with my email so I've found Avast Home much better and it's free. It even states is Vista-able (my word).
