Could not open sound device

I get the error message Could not open sound device Realtek High Definition Audio. Eventually the app stopped responding

I am running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Is the sound device ok on other programs?. Looks ok in Device Manager.

I can play internet video via the speakers, I can record via the usb devices, I typically do not record via the sound card.

Looks OK in the device manager

Have a look at this  http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=52951  it is for Vista....but it should be similar for W7.
