Running 10.3 Creator Premier Bluray and are trying to burn a DVD with approx 20 Clips spread across 6 Menus.
PC is a Dell MTS9000 with ATi 5870 and Intel I760 2.6.Rixio came as OEM software with the Dell. The Dell is running windows 7 64bit and is patched and up to date.

Having issues with trying to either burn to DVD or burn to file. All the video files render but Creator stops while trying to make menu structure and then stops with "80004005 Error while  Encoding Menu"
This happens with both hardware and software brun settings.

The menu theme is "Home thearter" with the background picture changes and I've added a sound file to each of the chapters.

Does anyone know how to fix my DVD buring issue ?

(I've been able to render a version with a single menu and all of the clips combined , but not with a structured menu with individual clips)

Kia Ora Neal,

In their page hereRoxio says

Quote

If your software came bundled with your computer or CD/DVD writers, contact the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of that equipment and they will provide complimentary support for your basic version of Roxio software. For more information on OEM’s,click here.

Perhaps you should be asking Dell about this.

Thanks for the advice , but I've worked 25 years plus in IT and generally find you need to go back to the OEM to get issues resloved. I very much doubt that the support infrastructure for Dell will be able work through application issues for this software without reverting them back to Roxio. The error message seems like a fairly comon issue from version 8 on. I will try Dell , but I suspect that I will just end up back here.

Just jumping in here Brendon

The Dell version is also missing a lot of bits that come with the full suite - it's possible that you have run into a limitation they have had put in

Thank you , I'm hoping this isn't the case , but your probably right.

Roxio did allow a full version upgrade to 10.3 from the base package, The update was 400 megs plus.
I've since also found and added PX Engine 4.18.16a.

Update

I no longer get the 80004005 error , however , it still renders all of the MPG video files, it then starts trying to build 1 of 6 Menus. The harddrive runs flat out for arouind 1 minute , and then the application exits. It's a real shame , because the application is easy to use and works ok if you don't build menus.

How do these version compare to the latest ?

Well, you have the 2007 version of Easy Media Creator 10, which has been tweaked to work with Windows 7.

The latest version [Creator 2010] is two versions further on. The main suite is

The PX engine is 4.18.16a, but almost all of the other modules are 5.0.3491. The suite bears little relationship to your Creator 10.3.

Thanks for taking the time to check Brendon ,looks like the 2010 10.3 OEM version is a long way behind the current versions.

I've got a support call in at this stage so hopefully Roxio will be able to help out. I'll report back here as to the findings.

ALL support for OEM versions come from the OEM provider(in your case Dell). Roxio will probably reply with the same response, but you never know.

Here is Roxio's web site on OEM's  http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/000036GN&PARAMS=set-locale=en

Managed to burn a DVD tonight.

By turning off the menu animations on all menus the burning process managed to complete.

It would appear the the OEM 10.2/ 3 Dell version using the Home Theater Style will not support animated menus without a menu error or crashing.

Can now move onto making a Argentina Motorcycle trip video .... Have 6 Hours of HD footage to edit .. I think I'm going to be busy for a while. Thanks for the help and suggestion. Neal

Update,

After a number of exchanged with the support desk which was helpful at times they have finally fob the call off and referred me back to Dell.

Some of the answers were helpful but I'd already gone over these in the knowledge base and applied patches where needed.

I'm somewhat disappointed by Roxio but as others on this forum have warned that this would happen. Yet this seems to be a very common problem.

I don't think I have the energy or the time to drive Dell to have Roxio fix the issue as I've spent the best part of 15 - 20 hours trying to work through the issue. This is a shame as Roxio is a nice easy application suite to use.

Have decided to move the project to Sony Vegas Studio suite as I have no confidence that buying the Creator 2010 will sort the issue.

The Dell 10.3 OEM is a piece of junk that should be uninstalled on reciept!

You posted in the wrong area as it has nothing in common with Creator 2010 and cannot possibly be used to judge any Retail version.

Sorry it didn't work out for you :(

Also any OEM software (even with the 'Roxio' name is highly modifed (and cut down) and supposrt is to be provided by the OEM (who will always and invariably try to deny that and pass the buck back to Roxio.

Dell made an agreement when they obtained the OEM license (as did other variants) that THEY would provide the support - but try getting their 'help' desk to admit that

It's not entirely a piece of junk, just fustrating that it has a few smaller issues. The issue is the amimated menus are not created at the end of the rendering process. Someone must be able to fix this. However , Roxio points to Dell for support , Dell points to Roxio.

I would like to dissagree on the posting area. It doesn't seem to be a legacy product as there have been updates via this site to the code. The product is labeled Creator Premier 2010 10.3 Bluray and since both Dell and Roxio have pointed back to this forum for self support. Perhaps there should be the 2010 Creator 10.3 OEM area.

I'm thinking that the chances are the 10.3 service pack 2 will sort the issue , Roxio / Dell need to make these avaiable to OEM version which Dell customers have paid good money for working Hardware / Software for a PC line that is aimed at home studio / Video editting. Neither company want to engage on this.

As I said earlier Neal, the Dell version is made to their specs and part of the deal is THEY provide support. Unfortunately their 'help' desk people can't accept that and they will try to shift support to Roxio, despite Dell having signed up to providing it.

It's just a modified version of EMC 10 (no matter what Dell may try to dress it up as) that will work with Windows 7 and, as such, is unique to Dell and has no resemblance to either the full version of EMC 10 or Creator 2010

If you want the latest from Roxio, it is called Creator 2010 (Pro).  Not 10.3.  If you get it directly from Roxio, you have a 30 day warranty to ask for your money back.  Make sure your computer can handle the program.  Usually the graphics is the big hang up.  Make sure you have the latest drivers for that card. ATI has been coming out with updates pretty frequently.

You may want to try removing the old program using Revo Uninstaller in the MODERATE Mode.

Perpare your computer like this before you install whatever you buy.
