I am trying to edit files using the Video Trimmer and am experiencing extreme delays. I can only use the Play button because any time I use rewind, forward, or move the bar, it slows down to a crawl and I have to wait, and wait. I don't understand it. The file I'm working with is quite large (over 4 gig) but are there any tricks to getting this thing to actually work?
Thanks!

The problem is the size of the file you are trying to edit. Also in what format is it? If a mpeg file it will even be slower than an avi file. Each time you make a change etc, the program has re-generate the preview which takes a long time with that size of file. Your CPU speed, RAM etc will also have an effect on the editing speed.
The trick is to work only with short (10-15 minute) clips and only capture to to short clips.
Where did the file come from?

It's from my Tivo. Each DVD had 2 hours of programming, of which I am trying to edit (remove commercials, etc.) I used the CAPTURE function in EMC to capture the files, which were automatically converted to MPG format by EMC. What's weird is that I worked on one file that was over 4 gig and it worked beautifully. I think it may be the quality I taped in. Some I used High Quality and other's I used Best Quality. I am so frustrated with this. I just reinstalled the software thinking that would help but it has not. Is there any way around this? My PC is pretty beefy (P4 w/ a gig of RAM) but the software does not perform well. Is there any hope or any way I can get better performance?

Capture in 15-20 min. blocks, and edit them, and save them individually. You can then combine them seamlessly in DVD Builder and burn them to a DVD.
You will only get one hour of video, at best quality, on a standard 4.7GB DVD, though.
Life is good!
