ROXIO IS FAST BECOMING A P[AIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT. THEY REFUSE TO HELP ALTHOUGH THEY GIVE SUCH SWEET EMPTY REPLIES. THEY HAVE NO REAL SOLUTIONS EXCEPT TO UPGRADE AND SPEND MORE MONEY. I CAN NOT READ THE DATA FILES FROM MY ROXIO BURNT DVD-R DVDS. THEY ARE BURNT ON WIN XP AND ARE ALMOST A YEAR OLD. I THINK THE PROBLEM MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH ALLOWING COMPRESION ON SOME OF THE DISKS; WHILE NOT SELECTING THE CORRECT FUNCTIONS ON OTHERS. I CAN SEE THOSE FILES THAT LIST CDFS IN THE FILE TYPE CATAGORYL BUT THE ONES THAT ARE SHOWING UP BLANK BUT INDICATE A FULL DISK- ARE READING RAW.THIS SEEMS TO THE NOVICE IN ME. THAT THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT WIN XP CAN NOT DETERMINE THE TYPE OF PROGRAM TO USE TO START THE PROCESS. THE FILES ARE HERE BUT THEY WON'T SHOW UP. SOME OF THEM PLAY ON MY DVD PLAYER ..WHICH CAN SHOW PHOTOGRASPHS, BUT I NEED THEM TO SHOW UP ON MY COMPUTER. I THOUGHT DVD STORAGE WAS THE BEST THING TO DO ..BUT NOW I AM CONVINCED THAT JUST HAVING SEVERAL EXTERNAL HARDDRIVES ARE THE BEST OPTION AND SINCE THEY ARE PREETY CHEAP (on ebay ) ONCE I GET THIS THING SOLVED I WANT TO STORE EVERYTHING USING THAT METHOD.I HAVE NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES MY D DRIVE INDIACTES THAT IT IS NOT LOCATED WHERE IT SHOULD BE. BUT OTHER TIMES IT PLAYS OUTSIDE MOVIES FROM OTHER COMPANIES. I NEED HELP BADLY

PhillyJoe,
Your post is very hard to read. Please leave off the "all capitals" unless you have a vision problem, and your sentences run on as if you're talking quickly before you run out of breath. Please use upper and lower case, sentences and paragraphs, and we'll be able to understand a lot quicker.
If you talk on the phone like that, is it possible the person on the phone couldn't help because he/she couldn't make out what the problem was?
From what I can work out after several readings, it seems that
[1] You can read all the discs that show as data discs in CDFS, but
[2] You have a bunch of discs you've written which seem to have data on them but can't be read by XP.
-is this right, please?
I have an idea what might be the problem, but first I need to know from you, What Roxio program [name and version] were you using to write them, please?
