just got a message for the first time that files in the TIVO folder (Roxio video copy & convert function)are DRM protected. the files are shows that I copy due to showtime versus when I can watch. I have made many DVDs of these same shows without this message. I am curious if the software needs a reinstall. additionally as a note I have made 50 or so DVDs from movies to soccer games without ever seeing this popup previously? any ideas?  the only file in that folder right now is Canadian public tv show Red Green (25 min) and that surely is not DRM. I have a pile of DVDs from previous shows.

I doubt if a re-install would help. If DRM notices are suddenly coming up it's more likely Tivo themselves have done that

Have you contacted them to ask?

Just checked - it seems they've changed something - go to this url

That URL refers to their software - not Roxio's.  What do you feel has changed?  If one wants to convert using TiVo's software, then one can uninstall this Roxio contamination to one's system.

So you think that files I transferred weeks ago and converted then are now changed by TiVo even though the file information (inc date stamp) was not modified?

This link suggests that the Roxio tool should be able to convert my files (which are NOT DRM protected).

Don't you think that responding to a thread that is almost a year old may give some indication that the statement from Tivo may have changed in the interim?

There are several of these threads about...  None had a reasonable answer.
TiVo may change their policy from time to time.
However in this case, the problems was indeed with the software, and has absolutely nothing to do with TiVo's policies.

Installing this patch (link below) has corrected the incorrect DRM status reporting of these files.
With no other change, I can now use the tool as I intend.  I no longer get any false reporting.

Actually you didn't have a Roxio problem, - you had a Microsoft one (the file in question is from MS)
