[b]I have made a DVD slide presentation in Roxio 7 using a DVD+R. It shows good on my DVD player but when I go to another DVD player it will not play showing me an error code of "DVD is dirty". I tried again with a DVD-R and the same thing happens. What type of DVD should I be using?
Thanks,
Paul Fitzner

The type of DVD media will depend on the DVD player. Not all DVD players will play every type of media. Some are only for +R/RW or -R/RW and some will play every kind. Your manual should state what kind you should use. Also there is a big difference between makes of DVD media, certain brands are better then others,

Plus and Dash are all there is…
I would suspect that the Player is the problem. May need cleaned or even replaced. Could be it prefers another brand of media – check the manual for that.

Just to add what has been suggested---Some of the older set top DVD players were very particular as to what type of media they would play as has been suggested, where-as most all of the new players can play either types of media (Plus & Minus (dash)) as James eluded to. I once had a problem with an friend of mine that had a fairly new player that couldn't play any of the DVD's I had made that had a stick on label I had made for them. After a bit of expiermenting, I found out that his player was very sensitive to what I call a "wobble Factor". At the rate of spin in rpm's, his set was very sensitive to any DVD that wasn't balanced really good. (My guess is that I wasn't that good at placing the label on perfectly straight or circular) After I made the same DVD's with out that stick on label (just a Sharpie) they all played fine after that.
Another problem I found with another friend that couldn't play my DVD's was the optional settings available for his particular player were set all wrong for playing DVD's. And I didn't even know there were players that you could set up for anything else but DVD's. Some can play jpeg slide shows and so on but the player usually recognizes what type of media it is (DVD, JPEG or ?).
