I recently returned from a trip to France with a  large number of pictures on my digital camera (JPEG). When I copy the pictures to a disc using Roxio,it ends up in UDF format, and when I send the disc(s) to friends they cannot open the pictures. I thought JPEG was pretty universal. What can I do to fix this?

Please verify what version of Roxio you have, you posted in the new Creator 2011, which was released yesterday.

Open the main home page and go into Help>About.

JPEG is pretty universal, but use of UDF format for data discs isn't.

How are you burning your data discs, please?
-what are they, CD or DVD?
-what Roxio suite are you using [name and version number please]?
-what application in the suite are you using to do this?
-what steps do you take to make your discs?
-what Operating System are you running?

Please answer all the above questions to your best ability. The more detail, the more we can be sure of what you're doing.

Brendon,

I am not sure of the version or suite, but I managed to get some alpha numeric info: see if this helps: 905B26B.ENU.RO1, also:

9.0\ROX10 Central33\Main\Roxio Central 33.exe.

I am burning DVD's, I have  a file from PICASA3 that contains the pictures in JPEG, and I drag and drop it onto a blank DVD icon. It copies fine but ends up as UDF.. I am running Windows XP.

Drag and Drop (aka Drag to Disc) hasn't been in any Roxio suite for years - are you sure you aren't using the Windows burning app?
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Right, you're using Easy Media Creator 9.05 which has TWO writing systems.

- Drag-to-Disc is one of them. It formats discs, and then you just drag individual files onto the specially formatted disc. This system writes in UDF, which is not so useful for a data disc. You need special software to read these discs, which is why your friends can't read them.
- Easy Media Creator is the other. It uses unformatted blank discs, and you write them in batches or "sessions" to the disc. This system writes data discs in CDFS, which is the standard form of data disc for PCs.

What you really need to do is write your JPEGs onto data discs you make with Creator, and steer clear of the formatting application.

9home.jpg

From the Creator 9 Home menu, go down to Data, and start from there. I'll look in regularly to see how you're going.

I'll get this topic shifted into the Easy Media Creator 9 forum where you can ask any further questions and I can steer you through burning data discs with Creator 9.
