I have Easy Media creator 9. It has worked good but after I had to reformat my hard drive, I get an error message when trying to use Videowave. "The following code must be activated (MPEG-2) before using the application. When I click ok it says No permission, bad install. It also hangs up when trying to burn an audio cd. Am I going to have to reinstall the entire program? I like Roxio but am sick of all the error messages. You learn to do something and they change it in the next upgrade. Is there any way to activate without all the trouble of reinstalling?

What operating system -- did you upgrade it?
Since that is such an old heritage version (around 6 years or so), I don't know if this (link) will work but you try try it. They may have turned off that activation server. Try calling Roxio Sales Tech Service.
There is a whole section of the Forum devoted to EMC 9 and activation. You may want to read some of those posts. This one in particular. Note that you will have to contact Roxio directly for a link to the download of EMC 9.1 - if it is still available.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
