Hi there, hope you can help!

I've been trying to burn my discs as I do time after time on DVDit6 with each project I do. But on this latest one, as soon as it's finished its processes before writing to the disc, it ejects the disc with only the thinnest of layers written. I've tried this three times now on this project, and tried it on 3 other unrelated projects, all with the same result.

Once the disc ejects, the message asks if I want to cancel. I do so, which then tells me it'll take a few minutes (and I've left it up to an hour) and the only way to get out is to close the program on Windows Task Manager.

I've tried reinstalling as well as restoring to the last known point, all to no avail! (Funnily enough, once I've reinstalled, it shows the few recently opened projects in the 'File' menu!)

Many thanks!

Rather than burning a dvd directly, create an ISO file first then burn that to the dvd. You don't have to have your project open to burn the disc. A bit more long-winded but saves wasting beer-mats. Also, if you enter your project name in the right-most tab of the project setting before creating the ISO you will see that as the dvd title on computer-based players, e.g. in Explorer.

Hi there

Thanks for your help.

I tried creating an ISO file first, but just before the writing stage, to be told the 'File is not valid MPEG. -20402'.

I tried it again on projects which all completed successfully in the past, only to be given the same message!

As far as I can see, this present MPEG file plays fine in Windows Media Player for instance as all the others do.

Any ideas?!

Many thanks!

I discovered the cause to this problem last night which may benefit others who experience this:

I had 2 video files in the 'Titles' section in the Projects bin. Both were playing fine in DVDit. The first one however, I accidentally erased a while ago, so exported it again immediately in my edit program as the same filename, in the same location thinking it would be a standard replacement. DVDit seemed to play it without problems, until it came time for burning when it displayed the error message in both the burning stage and creating an ISO.

The confusion came from not realising that particular file was causing the issue, thinking it would be a standard replacement in the same location without any problems, until I removed it from the bin and imported it back on DVDit again.

DVDit should really have given a message saying it didn't recognise that file to start with after I made the replacement etc., but you live and learn I guess!

Many thanks,

Gavin
